I think black ops III wii U will outsell this (and I'm not expecting that to sell very well)

How much are you thinking Splatoon will sell exactly?

Exactly I have no clue, but I'd say ~0.6m.

I've seen gameplay and I dont think the game modes will catch on as much as they are expecting them to.

You think Black ops III selling 3mil+ lifetime is not selling very well?

You think either of them will get in the top 5 wii U games?

But will the game sell one tenth of what Mario Kart 8 will sell lifetime? Would you give it an over or under on that?

Your underestimating the game if you think it might not sell 1/10th of MK8

??? What does that have to do with what you posted? O.o

That said COD helllllll nooooooooo. Not even top 25.

As for Splatoon, it depends. Its going to kill your lifetime prediction though :)

It's not a game that appeals to me at all on face value but I certainly hope its a huge seller, I'll be keen to try the demo to see what the fuss is about. I hope they keep most of their marketing budget back for Xenoblade Chronicles X and Zelda U though. Xenoblade needs to be seen by as wide an audience as possible if Nintendo want to sell hardware. In fact some pre-launch teasers even now wouldn't be a bad idea.

The above views may change considerably once I've tried the game.

Before I tried Demo I was planning to buy game in some moment when I find really cheap copy, after Demo I preorder game, and later cancel preorder and decided to buy via eShop at launch. :)

For new IP with big potential that you want to succeed, you need very good and big marketing, bigger than for Xenoblade that already have fans or Zelda most famous Nintendo IP after Mario.

I don't think the original Xenoblade had enough fans and it was a fairly low seller at least outside Japan but haven't checked the figures. That isn't really my  point though about Xenoblade X, it's the fact the game looks technically impressive when many wii u games before it have done huge damage to its reputation as good tech. The game looks impressive and gives the wii u more tech credibility.  Splatoon looks the complete opposite, it does not look technically impressive and looks like something that could be achieved on even humble hardware, even the original wii. In fact if they had released it for that format as well I'm sure it would have done huge numbers. Xenoblade X looks like an epic experience with a lot to see and do but Splatoon looks like a casual bit of fun.

It's the only announced Wii U release that has a chance to be something somewhat significant until Star Fox or maybe XCX (depending on which releases first), so it's really no surprise that they are putting some marketing backbone behind ot, is it?

In Europe Yoshi Comes out end of June and they're pushing that (and from what i heard, some reviewers are in love with the game)

It even has its own Amiibo set.

And depending on XCX comes out, Mario Maker is a Sept release WW.

Splatoon won't reach the top 5, but it certainly won't sell only 600k.

Funnily enough, Japan was where Xenoblade 1 sold the worst; 160k there versus 420k in North America and 250k in Europe.

I do agree that XCX has the potential to help Wii U's street cred though, as the kind of epic, "hardcore" exclusive the system has too few of.

Splatoon on the original Wii though? I don't think 88MB of RAM would be sufficient to record every individual splatter of paint across the entire map.

This is great news, and it makes sense, seeing that todays testfire crashed due to too many people! Now the real question is not if it is going to sell to ones that already own a wii u, but if it will bring new people in and give a boost in hardware as mario kart gave.Probably not, but ill stay optimistic

My (locked) thread about how difficulty should be a decision for the developers, not the gamers.
