I've already said last gen was the biggest progression we'll ever see in a gen. That doesn't negate the progress made this gen, however.

And I made no such comparison, he did.

No. He didn't compare them in the way you do. You are saying that God of War was limited in its complexity, and say it is comparable to Art of Balance. That's just... No word for such a comparison.

Really. I don't know what's up with you right now.

No, I didn't.

I simply called out the double of ignoring the limitations that allowed the games he listed to look as good as they do.

Okay, this has drifted off topic.

For the record, this thread is not for comparison of Wii U graphics to PS3/PS4/360/X1, so further posts on this matter will be reported as off topic.

The topic is progression on Wii U.

That's not double standards.

God of War is an actual game with lots of graphical assets and stages progression and actual scope. Art of Balance is limited in scope compared to just about everything out right now. It does physics, and nice flashy effects. But never does it taxes the hardware, and certainly not on the level that God of War games do for the PS3.

Fair enough. You posted this at the same time I did.

On topic:

As far as I'm concerned, there hasn't been much progression so far for the Wii U. It's baby steps for sure, but I think the lack of competition from any worthy third parties make it so the developers are complacent when it comes to creating new tech to enrich the visuals. A lot of the games shown in the OP can barely be compared with each other by virtue of being of very different game styles, of different mood, different tone, different art styles. For example, 2D Mario VS 3D Mario.

You missed it cos you were posting, so of course I won't report, but as per the post above, I think the digression into console war territory has gone far enough.

EDIT: And we did it again... XD

I think Hynad pretty well explained my point.

I'm not telling the PS3 hardware is better, I'm not saying that you can't have great games on the Wii U, I'm talking about what you show and its limits, which require comparing. I have never talked about the PS4/X1 which are the competitors in the current console war. My point was fair enough, not a comparison to feed a console war.

Let's make clear what you are now saying : the topic is about the graphical progress on Wii U, but according to your new rule, we must do that without talking about what the hardware should be able to handle (considering, but not comparing to what the PS360 handled), without talking about the scope of the games you show (that requires comparison), and without talking about what can do a triple AAA team on a similar hardware (comparison). So, have a nice conversation with yourself and your exact likes.

People don't understand that while the WiiU is not as porwerful as the PS4/Xbox One. It doesn't mean that it is 10 year old technology.

The WiiU architecture and components are as recent as the PS4/One, but with power more aligned with the PS3 and 360.  In the end, she can do a lot of next gen effects really well, and this is why when developpers take the time to do their game properly, the result can be as beautiful as any PS4/X1 games.

Now Nintendo made good progress in HD development, Starfox, Zelda, and the ther games that will be released next are going to prove furthermore that Nintendo is still the graphics geniuses they always were.

Splatoon is one good looking game too.

Never said we can't consider things like scope, team size, budget, etc.

Just no more cross-system comparisons. PS3/360/PS4/Xbone are not relevant to this discusssion.

Lol at some posts here. The comparison was very simple - developer A has a Wii U game 1 released last 2012. Did developer A did a great job in using Wii U hardware to increase graphics on the games he have done after 2 years. So that is the comparison. It may or may not be the an increment of the same game i.e. mario 2 and then mario 3.

since it is the first hd console for nintendo, from wii. Absolutely yes. In terms of Wii U 2012 games comparing to 2014/15 games. Some developers might tried to push further. hard to compare HD games since it is way graphically great nowadays. Pushing Wii U on the graphical side we may need to wait for an open world RPG. XCX and Zelda to see further. Even Devil's Third would be a good choice to compare.

Lets not talk about XCX human models as Xeno games really gave that different human style.
