Forums - Nintendo - Can Splatoon become the next CallofDuty/SmashBros of Tournaments?

So I like every other wii u owner played the testfire run, and realized the huge potential for competitive co-operative play the game offers.

It is filled with possible strategy options, costumized characters, different play style options, and approach to winning a match.

What team wins and looses is not based on luck, and if one person falters, the whole team suffers.

Imagine a team carefully planning their approach, choosing weapons and positions and directions before a match, and then having to be mutable and think quickly and effectively to match the opponents strategy.

I found plenty of possible strategies with only one hour.

so do you believe this game can garner a huge tournament scene and following? I do, massive potential.

How does this work without voice chat?

It definitely has potential, but I doubt that this game could get to the esports level.. maybe the next game?

Nope. Its cool. But the chance is super slim.

It works without voice chat because the players would sit next to each other in grand tournaments like they do other places

not with out voice chat and even then i doubt it

Probably not cause its too niche and a lack of private matches during launch (and therefore not in the reviews) won't be helping either

I found more possible strategy in the pinky finger of splatoon than i ever did gaming call of duty :-p

The eSports market is already oversaturated enough with StarCraft II, LoL, DotA 2, CS: GO, Smash, Hearthstone, and Heroes of the Storm.

The fact that there are no friend lobbies at launch kinda kills it, if you ask me.

"Just for comparison Uncharted 4 was 20x bigger than Splatoon 2. This shows the huge difference between Sony's first-party games and Nintendo's first-party games."
