Forums - Gaming - How do you feel about Kickstarter Spiritual Successors?

When a series has no other options, I'd back a Grandia spiritual successor for a silly amount of money.

Grandia is in no need of a spiritual successor. Game Arts have not forgotten about it. Even if it was, who would pull it off? Spiritual successors are always lead by the original creators and unfortunately for Grandia it was created by brothers, one no longer works in game industry and the other passed away at 40.

I think it's a great idea, and considering that these developers seem to have pretty good track records, I have no issue with them.

I'm looking forward to Mighty No. 9 and Yooka-Laylee.

"Just for comparison Uncharted 4 was 20x bigger than Splatoon 2. This shows the huge difference between Sony's first-party games and Nintendo's first-party games."

Good.
Those are the best kickstarters

Ive backed those 3 games and Ive only ever backed 4 games, so yeah...

How can you not have seen Dino Crisis? :o

It was awesome. Basically old school Resident Evil except with all kinds of cool dinosaurs instead of zombies. Just look how awesome this is!

Oh that is interesting, actually. I might have to try it. Thats on the PSN store?

I think both Dino Crisis and #2 are on the US store. Not on the EU one though

I'll have to try it then! Oh that sucks for you guys v.v Well thankfully you can always make a US PSN account. Just have to deal with the whole Euro/Pounds to Dollars exchange though which makes things more annoying than they have to be

They're making a Castlevania succesor and not for the Wii U?

I can already tell that game is going to bomb critically.

After Pillars of Eternity, it is a highly welcome addition to the industry in my eyes, if done correctly.

Never played one yet, so I can't answer this question.
After Mighty No. 9 I can give you an answer.

It's nice for those that love the gameplay and miss that style, but personally it's just not the same.

It's a lot harder for fans to replace long running series. Like Mighty No. 9 can never replace Mega-man no matter how hard they try and fans of Mega-man probably won't give the same love they did with Mega-man towards with Mighty No. 9. That's how I see it anyways.

I would love to see a spiritual successor for Dino Crisis if Capcom is no longer going to make one.  This would be acceptable for me as there were only 2 real Dino Crisis games and was released long ago (DC3 on Xbox doesn't count, that was a mess xP ).

Yeah, I feel as though the originals will never really be replaced either. I wonder (especially if more come) if this will cause a lot of hate to the new IPs from fans of the original series.

What is Dino Crisis? I always hear about it but have never seen it

You never heard?!?!! lol jk its a niche game by Capcom where its pretty much Resident Evil, but with dinosaurs.  However the 2nd Dino Crisis I guess they wanted to change it a bit from being an exact RE clone so they made it more action packed but still had the same RE feel which was still very fun to play.

I would highly recommend it if you like dinosaurs and old school Resident Evil.  PSN has a Flash Sale where they had both games for $0.99 each!
