Forums - Gaming - What's the proportion of original titles, remasters and crossgen games in current gen systems?

Dig up any thread about a game being revealed as cross-gen and look at the amount of people complaining.

Not complaining now would be hypocritical.

Believe me. I want the devs to go current gen only but I don't get why a cross gen game can't be considered a new game and an original experience.

Please explain that to me. :)

That's just semantics though, ask OP nicely and I'm sure he'll change it.

- Cross-gen

- 8th gen exclusive

I'm gonna keep spamming this thread until Diablo III gets changed to cross-gen. There is no reasonable reason to call it a remaster.

Godd job on the list but since this about the proportion of all titles to remasters is it really fair to include games that have yet to be released? Would we not also have to include original titles yet to be released in order to get the real ratio?

Absolutely its fair. They're going to be release, therefore exist, so they count lol

omg...of course they are going to be released, therefore exist, that wasn't my point. My point is that they aren't released yet but since you are including unreleased remasters it interferes with the ratio of original games:remasters that are out right now. So if your going to include all remasters that are going to release then its only fair to include original games that have planned releases as well.

Yup they exist so are perfectly fine for the list, incude everything lol.  Originals and remasters, it just makes the list even bigger

A game being cross gen isn't really that bad of a thing unless the last gen versions are holding the game back which I don't really see.  Look at a game like Shadow of Mordor, the last gen port looks like shit and the nemesis system is a shadow of itself in the current gen version, but that didn't stop the current gen version to be what it should be.  The nemesis system is fully fleshed out and the game looks good.

I think some people want to be fooled into believing a game being 8th gen exclusive means it couldn't exist on 7th gen. The reality almost all 8th gen games could be ported to 7th gen, they just wouldn't look as nice.

People said 7th gen consoles couldn't handle games like Witcher 2 or Crysis. In reality those platforms received visually less impressive versions but retain the same gameplay.

Shadow or Mordor on 7th gen is clearly just a rushed, low budget port. It probably has the lowest resolution found in a 7th gen game along with poor frame rate. The lack of the nemesis is just more proof how little effort was put into it.

A few errors I saw on the list...

EA Sports UFC is not cross gen.

Zoo Tycoon is cross gen.

OP missed bloodborne.

The graph for XBOne needs to be redone since it states "Total new games" twice...
