Wow interesting that the PS4 is underperforming so far compared to the PS3. That said, holidays have a much bigger influence nowadays to annual sales (though dem PS2 numbers are just unbelievable)

Interesting that both PS4 and PS3 numbers are kind of neck and neck.

Like I said in the other topic May 2002 was the month of a price drop for the Ps2 the new price was 199 dollars (previously 299 dollars) Thats why ps2 numbers are so high.

Plus the Ps3 had many price drops and the last one was in novemeber 2007 for the 80GB (399 dollars)

The Ps4 has still the same price that at the launch.

Interesting comparisons, but hardly surprising. Sega was already dead in 2002 and the PS2 had for only competitors the gamecube and the 1st xbox which couldn't have a big impact on the market...

Also, let's not forget that PS2 had something that PS4 hasn't, the help of the huge success that was the DVD at the time. So many people bought a PS2 as a cheap DVD player !

I think the PS4 numbers are still quite remarquable tbh, even compared to 2008 and the PS3/Wii/360 era. Today the competition is crazy, with Steam, smartphones and tablets, Microsoft and Nintendo also still around (although less strong) people have so many choices and can play literally everywhere.
