With the exception of The Witcher and MGS, people bitch like crazy about all those franchises. Nintendo alone makes more diverse games than all the big third party publishers cough up combined... Yet people still buy them, defend them and say Nintendo needs them...

So translation: "They have none". Thank you

People want those games, people enjoy those games, maybe you should get some perspective and realise that people do not all enjoy the same thing and that surprise, surprise a lot of people do not care for Nintendo's output. So yes, if Nintendo wants its hardware to be relevant then it does in fact need those games (or it can try to catch lightning in a bottle again), cause if they don't have em they won't even be on the map for tons of people.

People dont want diversity. They want bald men with huge guns... Thank god for Nintendo I say.

Lol, do you actually think that T2 would stop Rockstar if they said they wanted to make a Wii U port of GTA V? Do you have any idea how much freedom Rockstar has within T2? If they cared to put the game on Wii U then it would be there.

Yeah, right...and Retro Studios can do whatever they want as well...

It's a shame cause it did three things better than the rest

Price
Gamepad (remote playing without an extra purchase, even if it range is limited)
Hardware (being weaker is good, not bad)

Unfortunately the third is a problem for third parties and scares away their support. It needed Madden, Fifa, GTA, etc, to sell.

Madden and Fifa are being made for the Wii and 3DS and GTAV was for the 360 and PS3. The hardware is not the problem.

Sorry to barge in, but I'm really curious.

KLXVER.. may I ask you what are your theories about why the Wii U is not selling as well as the others?

I would say its image. Many gamers think its embarrasing to own one and casual gamers are happy with their Wii. Its different and not cool. There are many great games on the WiiU, but most of them are not bad ass and cool, so its seen as a kids console.

Thats just the time we live in though. Its kinda the same with movies. Youre not making much money unless youre making a superhero movie or an animated one.

*Facepalm* are you seriously comparing Retro Studios to freaking Rockstar? Take Two depends on Rockstar, not the other way around, every publisher in the world would pay ridiculous sums of money to get a hold of Rockstar and even without a publisher they could easily go public and get tons of capital at the capital market, so Take Two has hardly any bargaining power here.

Rockstar is a huge money making machine, if they wanted to release a version on Wii U then Take Two wouldn't stop them, if at all it's Rockstar itself that thinks a Wii U version isn't worth the effort, the publisher would easily let them do it.

Take Two owns Rockstar and all their franchises. They cant just walk away with GTA...

Rockstar cant just pick and choose what they want to do. If they said "Yeah, we`re skipping GTA6 and are going to make Table Tennis 2 and some other games instead" Take Two would tell them to shut the hell up and get back to making GTA6... Maybe let a couple of the guys make those other games during their lunch break...

Again, how could Take Two force Rockstar to do that? The Rockstar founders (who are to this day still the heads behind all the GTA games and other big Rockstar games) could in a scenario like that easily walk away from Take Two, take the good staff away with them, found a new studio and would have no problem getting funding for a new project they want to make, hell they could probably fund a couple projects on their own. It would literally take several financial flops from those guys before Take Two would be able to excert any kind of serious pressure on Rockstar, cause until then they know they can always go somewhere else.

The founders of Infinity Ward walked away. Didnt stop COD.

The founders of BioWare walked away. Didnt stop Dragon Age and Mass Effect.

It happens all the time...

COD which even before their department was already handled by 2 studios and was an annual machine and Dragon Age and Mass Effect which in terms of the creative process had no apparent involvement of the company founders vs GTA whose founders are still actively involved in the writing and making of every GTA, I think there's a pretty apparent difference here.

Also the CoD thing brings up another interesting point, if Take Two has as much power over what Rockstar does then why does GTA still take so long to develop, why is it not on a bi-yearly or even yearly schedule?

Between the main GTAs sure. They still have the spin offs, DLC, ports and remasters to fill in the gaps.
