About the NX at least launching in 2016? Yes. Do Dolphins dance?

About launching in 2015 holiday? I wouldn't find it impossible that the NX launches this holiday. Unlikely sure, but not impossible. Need overwrites habit.

Why do they need to screw themselves over? Rushing a new console out 5 months after it's reveal (assuming E3) and only 3 years after the last with no games will only further hurt brand image.

Exactly.

Dreamcast wasn't a bad console, it was simply tarnished by the image the Saturn created.

Question is more 'Will the next Nintendo home console be able to shake the damage done by the Wii U?'

Releasing it earlier than later won't help, they need to see the Wii U out. Jumping the gun won't help, it didn't help Sega or the DC.

Isn't this the financial results thread for the past year? Why not discuss it now?

Oh so using the "FY" to your advantage huh? That said my point still stands. We accepted it back in Nov/Dec, my point exactly.

People are going to talk about Wii U sales since they missed their forecast. You must accept it again!

The most important thing is that Nintendo made money for the FY (even though Q4 had a loss). Just means Nintendo is operating within its means.

I just have no idea how the nintendo stock is up 3% today. This was not a particularly good report, nor is there guidance on the upcoming year as it's lower than this year, while all evidence points to higher revenue and lower profit.

absurd.

With this figures, it's looking more and more likely that Wii U will have a hard time hitting 20m. It needs a price cut fast.

LOL and so!?

We talk about the % increase. PS4 is down YOY by 25%, stop.

"the year is not over", doesn't matter, we talk about the Q1 sales, and PS4 is down by 25%.

You folks need to chill and start focusing on Nintendo only. This isn't a thread to war over how your favorite console or company is doing compared to other companies.

OT: Glad to see Nintendo is making some cash here.

Hardware sales might not be that good, but they turn a decent profit, and in the end that is what matters the most.

why shouldnt it be down? the ps4 was released in q4 2013 and q1 2014 was still strong. It will be up next quarter

Yes, because this iluminating financial results are giving us a new whole perspective. Nintendo was waiting for 3.6 m shipped for Wiiu and at the end is 3.4m, that changes it everything right? And 3DS is 8.8 m intead of 9m, wow! This must be for some reason that we haven´t discuss 100 times by now... right? Or maybe just the perfect time to shit a little bit more about exactly the same.

Well...yeah...because apparently that 3.6 was the lowball. Being 200k lower than your lowball when you have your biggest games out is terrible.

to be fair, nobody knew if Nintendo was actually lowballing. That's just what many many users thought. It turned out that they weren't and the projection was rather reasonable. I don't think it's bad that they missed their target by a few 100k (no matter how high it was). It's bad because the numbers themselves are really low. If they projected 3.3m and sold as much as they did (thus beating the projection) there still wouldn't be a reason to be more satisfied with the numbers.
