to be fair, nobody knew if Nintendo was actually lowballing. That's just what many many users thought. It turned out that they weren't and the projection was rather reasonable. I don't think it's bad that they missed their target by a few 100k (no matter how high it was). It's bad because the numbers themselves are really low. If they projected 3.3m and sold as much as they did (thus beating the projection) there still wouldn't be a reason to be more satisfied with the numbers.
