No, I don't think adding the Super tag will help with sales

As for both launch prices, those numbers are extremely low and with a price cut, the Super DS would be about $100 and the Super Wii at $200. I'm sure they would have lost more money by selling the handheld for so low

How are those launch prices super low? In August 2011, 3DS got a price cut to $169.99 and was sold at a slight loss, by not having 3D screens it could have been sold at a slight profit at that price. Same for Wii U, in September 2013 the Deluxe bundle became $299.99, without the Gamepad it could have probably costed $249.99 without taking much of a loss.

Why would Super DS have to be $100 by now?

When the herd loses its way, the shepard must kill the bull that leads them astray.

They should have have name the console Wii HD. No consumer would confuse the system as an accessory with that name.

The 3DS launched at 249$, and saw a price cut to 169$ at the same time as OP suggested the release.

Plus the original DS started at 149$.  Which is cheaper than OP suggested.

In addition, the original Wii costed 249$ for a few years before it dropped it's price.  So it likely would not have lost money.  Because it'd be selling more, itd also sell a lot more games.

The original pricing for the DS is indeed $150 but with inflation, it would equate to a bit more expensive price than suggested in the OP.

I'm sure that with a cheaper Super Wii, there would be more sales, but there needs to be a balance with selling at a loss. That's the main reason why Nintendo still haven't given the Wii U a price cut, because they want to make more for each console, instead of following Microsoft's marketing.

@zorg1000

I'm saying that it would be about $100 because there would have to be a price cut from the launch price. Starting with $169, it will have to be cut to maybe $120, but eventually to $100. May be wrong about this, but that's what I'm thinking

Nothing would have changed.
Wii U should have been called Wii 2!

We'll 2DS is $129.99 so that's a reasonable price to expect.

Are u guys even reading? Name is just a small part of my overall point, better marketing+lower price+better software output.

True, but I think the reason why there is a 2DS is just to have a wider range.. A higher end version the XL for $200, the standard version, $169, and the cheap version $129.. and now, the new model, the n3DS.

Wii was a dumb name from the start, nintendo shouldn't have doubled down on it in any form.

Ech, the motion controls stuff doesn't deserve to come back as the main controller for an entire console generation.

bet: lost
