Forums - Nintendo - Nintendos Amiibo killer app is going to be a launch title for their next system.

Just a little prediction that I wanna make.

We all know that Amiibos are all the rage right now, but I'm personally doubtful of how long that trend is going to continue on the basis that those figurines are still mainly bought as collectors toys and not for gaming purposes and if Nintendo has any sort of perspective then they are probably thinking something similar.

Because of that I'm sure that Nintendo is going to finally release a game that requires Amiibos to function sometime in the next 2 years.

The reason I believe that this is going to be on their next system is that, like I've said before, I don't think that Nintendo is too interested in making many more new pushes for the Wii U and that they already teased their next platform.

Imagine in 2017 when all those people that have amassed huge Amiibo collections finally see that one piece of software released that makes those figurines really worth it, they'll buy the thing and the new platform it's attached to in a heartbeat I'm sure.

I personally feel as though the Amiibo craze has already peaked and is not on a decline. I think people are tired of Nintendo's business tactic to not meet demand

I don't know. By that time, most 3rd party Amiibos (Megaman, Pacman, Yooka-Laylee if they make it...) are probably discontinued due to ends of contracts or something similar. I think they'll make the game, but I don't know how many Amiibos will be compatible by that point.

You know it deserves the GOTY.

Hmm, perhaps. But I personally feel as though by the time the next console comes about we'll have moved past Amiibos. They may still exist in some capacity but they won't be popular enough to be a "killer app".

Who knows though, this is Nintendo after all.

Here lies the dearly departed Nintendomination Thread.

Yeah amiibo hype is gonna go on the decline. I don't see Nintendo making an amiibo only game in the year 2017.

It would be cool if they did do an amiibo specific game, so I think I'd be down with that. I do find it hard to say the amiibo craze peaked when its still fairly young.

Might be earlier depending on when the next system launches.

That's a good prediction.

There won't be an amiibo game because amiibo are limited (quantities), if they were mass producing them with the mindset of ''everyone must have all the amiibo!!!'' then we would be talking, but that's obviously not the case

I honestly expect the Amiibo game to be announced at this years E3 for a early 2016 release.
