Gamescom > E3 anyway. Excellent choice.
wouldn't be surprised if they're already planning to release ff15 in episodes. with that episode duscae 2.0 annoucement it more and more seems to look like that. the life is strange approach seems to work for them so why not trying it on something bigger as well? i personally think i wouldn't be such a bad idea and at least worth a try.

The game has not been in full development since 2005-6. They may have started then, but the game was tabled several times. They also completely restarted development when they moved to PS4 and changed directors. They didn't have a full staff working on the game until 2011 or so.
so much for the wait. but we still need to wait for this game to be released. agree that this might not be released during holiday 2015.

They sell merchandise. This recovers or offsets failures. It's one reason FF 13 kept getting sequals. There's a ton of crap in the Square store for it.

This explains the focus for more cosplay / J-Pop type character design in these games.

Yes. If a character has special jewerly or something fancy. It's most likely something yo can buy, to wear, in the store. Easy money.
so that is like 10-11 years of development time if it comes out in 2016.
It'll have to be the best freaking Final Fantasy ever made..They really have to impress.

The XV is not for the main series number but for the development cycle.
