I only ever did this one time. I bought The Wonderful 101 on release day two months before I had enough money to buy my Wii U.
I did buy one PS4 game before I got my PS4 because it was $10 and I knew I'd pay more if I bought it later.
Nope. Why would I buy games for a system that I don't currently have? My brother on the other hand did it all time. He used to buy games on PC that didn't perform well on his PC. He have now a GTX 970, so he shouldn't have those problems.
Only once. I got a great price on Assassin's Creed shortly before buying my original PS3.
All the time, pick up retro games for systems I am missing from my collection at times, Picked up Doom for the 32X in a store recently yet to find a working 32X system tho for my.... 6 or so Megadrive systems. Awful hardware failure rate those things seem to have.

On topic: I push my hw on PC to unacceptable limits, I fondly remember playing Watchdogs at around 5 fps average

Uff. So I'm not the only one who thinks N3DS is way overpriced. I mean, it is overpriced even when compared to another overpriced console! Nintendo sure should cut the prices of its consoles, cause they are impeding their sales. They are both my most-wanted consoles right now (Wii U is on top), but I'm not going to pay the current price for such outdated tech. N3DS is so inferior to Vita's hardware, yet costs so much more :-/ The games are also much more expensive. Crazy.
OT: I've actually been thinking about picking up MK8 and Bayo2, even though I won't buy the console until they cut the price. So yeah, I always buy games before I get a console 
Wii U is a GCN 2 - I called it months before the release!
