I usually buy 2-3 games for a console before I finally buy one. Just to make sure I'll have something good to play once I get the hardware I don't buy it a lot in advance though. 2-3 months max.

When there's a Steam sale I'll buy any game that appeals to me, sometimes it;s games I can't run and I definitely do have some of those but I'll also be upgrading my hardware by next week so I can max my entire library out as much as possible.

For consoles no, I usually buy the system first and then the games but only after I've got a list of games for the system.

Not usually, but I was planning to buy a New 3DS so I bought Tales of Abyss and NSMB2 last winter. This spring, though, I changed my mind and decided to buy a Wii U instead. Now I have 2 awesome games that I cannot play.

Maybe one day I will buy a New 3DS if they ever release the smaller/cheaper one in North America. In Canada, it currently costs $250 (including the power adapter) to buy a N3DS while a Wii U (with 2 games) only costs $300. It's just way overpriced, in my opinion.

Only really PC stuff. I bought a few Humble Bundles with games I couldn't run because I was planning on getting a new computer soon. I would never do the same thing with retail.
