Yeah he should go the Killer Instinct or Mortal Kombat way. Let's release a game with 8 fighters and charge for the other 50.

I'll say it again, Mewtwo was created as a reward for those who chose to purchase both versions of Smash (Wii U & 3DS) during the launch period. It wouldn't be much of a reward if everyone had access to it on day one. "Buy and register both the Super Smash Bros. for Nintendo 3DS and Super Smash Bros. for Wii U games to receive a special soundtrack CD and Mewtwo DLC from Club Nintendo!" |
ok but that doesn't change anything. He was made as incentive for consumers to buy both games, i.e spend more money. I would have thought series veterans would be in it from the get go, but I actually have no problem with post launch DLC.

It's not a "bonus". It's not there because Nintendo just wants to be nice. It's there as an enticement to BUY AMIIBOS. It's there to earn MONEY. It's DLC they worked on to prepare for DAY ONE. It's the "easiest way to make money." The only difference between this and on-disc Horse Armor is that this is bloody expensive. The convoluted logic people are trying to perform in order to make Nintendo look innocent of trying to make money is astonishing. If the Amiibo DLC was avaliable WITHOUT having to purchase an expensive toy, it would still be Day One DLC but it would make them look far less predatory. |
Wait, so if the Amiibo's don't unlock anything in games, they are useless figurines. But since Nintendo is creating content for them to actually do something, they are ripping off consumers even more? I'm not following your logic.

Yes. The game is also full of clones and new characters are sold as DLC. In fact, they don't want to think about anymore characters, so they decided to pull the ballout and let players to choose their next DLC. Simple but effective.
Proud to be the first cool Nintendo fan ever
Number ONE Zelda fan in the Universe
Prediction: No Zelda HD for Wii U, quietly moved to the succesor
Predictions for Nintendo NX and Mobile

Haven't seen any dlc that I thought had a valid pricetag since red dead redemption, undead nightmares
Extra as DLC are good - what it shoudl have been in the game in the first place as DLC is bad!
Switch!!!

Well, the main issue in question is that companies are cutting out parts of a games, selling an imcomplete product, and then offering the rest of it as DLC to make it complete. However, Smash Bros is already a complete product, and anything that is released afterwards is post content. It's not really a scam if it was made after the game was released. |
But there are very few things released that are truly incomplete. There are examples like Evolve that are made with DLC in mind, but I don't think all developers have the conversation of "Hey, let's remove this and sell it as DLC later". You'd be hard pressed to legitimately say that it's a scam, because companies use it different ways. So it's not evil or good.

You are conveniently ignoring the fact that Mewtwo was created as a reward for those who purchased both the WiiU & 3DS editions during the launch period. Where would the incentive be if everyone had access to that character day one? Dang, that's some expensive DLC.

Because I don't enjoy playing it. Period. Why would I pay $60 or $40 for something I don't enjoy? Can you not imagine why people might not be willing to pay $40-$60 for something? It isn't worth $60 to me. In the meantime I'd be more than willing to pay much more than $60 for Metal Gear Solid V: Phantom Pain, but you'd probably think that's lunacy. It's pathetic. Look here folks. The value of DLC is relative to those who want the content of said DLC. Period. You might think Activision are scam artists for charging $15 for a few maps, but their sales say otherwise. If it wasn't worth $15, no one would buy it! There are people that would happily pay more than that for the experience they get from it, because they see value in that. They are not wrong by thinking that way any more than you are for paying $12-$15 for little plastic figures with an NFC tag in them that quite literally cost less than $2 to manufacture, package, and ship to your door. |
lol, now i just feel bad 4 yah.... :-/
I think its funny when people group every nintendo fan together, and act like we solely think nintendo cando no wrong. Many of us calledc FE Awakening one of the best games on 3ds but criticise it for having overly expensive dlc prices just to name 1 example.
As for the "worth" argument, if you dont like a game, thats fine but saying its not worth "$??" because you dont play it is a bit silly. FFXV+XCX somebody might not like because of the battle system/whatever but to say it isnt worth $60 because you dont like it is a bit silly.
Anywayzzzz yeah all nintendo fans are [insert something], all NINTENDO FANS..... ALL!!!!!!!! :0
