Forums - Sports - NBA Playoffs 2015 NBA FINALS. Warriors win Series 4-2!

WHO WILL WIN THE NBA FINALS?

Golden State Warriors 53 66.25%

Cleveland Cavaliers 27 33.75%

Total:80

It wasn't just Magic's Lakers either, Bird also had to deal with the Dr. J's Sixers in the early years, Olajuwon's Rockets in the finals of '86, and the Bad Boy Pistons in the Eastern Conference.
People tend to forget, but back in 80s and 90s, the league was MUCH more physical and at times dirty than it is today.
Back then, there were no flagrant fouls, or hand checking, etc.
So guys like Magic, Bird, and MJ played in a MUCH more physically and mentally demanding league than LeBron faces now.

Well for me he only needs one more title to surpass Larry Bird as the greatest small forward of all time despite his sub par record in the Finals.  Getting another title will probably be pretty though if he stays in Clevland since Irving will probably never be close to 100% again and Love will more then likely leave for another team next season.

Sorry, but I can't agree with this.  Sure, he would have won more titles than Larry, but LeBron isn't going up against Magic's Lakers in the Finals.  Also, Larry is quite possibly the greatest clutch shooter in history and we know that LeBron isn't even close to that.

I'm of the same opinion. Lebron, when he finally retires, will probably be in the Top 5 Greatest Players of All-Time. However, at the moment, I still believe Larry Bird is the greatest small forward of all time. Lebron's getting there, but he's not there yet.

Right now, LeBron is already part of my Top 10.
The way it goes for me is like this:
1. Michael Jordan
2. Bill Russell
3. Kareem Abdul-Jabbar
4. Magic Johnson
5. Kobe Bryant
6. Wilt Chamberlain
7. Tim Duncan
8. Larry Bird
9. Shaquille O'Neal
10. LeBron James

If LeBron can win one more title in his career, he'll shoot past Larry and Shaq, maybe Duncan and Wilt if has a long career playing at a high level. But unless he wins at least 2 more, especially if he keeps losing in the Finals, I don't think he's top 5 player in my book. Definitely top 10 already. But I'll have to wait and see if he can make it to top 5.

Where is Oscar Robertson on that list?

I wouldn't put Oscar Robertson on my list either, which sucks since both him and Hakeem deserve a spot. However, somebody has to be left off.

Yeah, I guess that averaging a triple double over an entire season wasn't THAT impressive.  :p

It's not that it wasn't impressive. It's just that who would you take off that list? Everyone on that list has more championships and as many MVPs as Oscar as well. It'd be hard to make an argument for Oscar against any of those guys.

MVPs and championships aren't everything.  Was Karl Malone or Charles Barkley a bum because they never won a title?  Michael Jordan used to not win the MVP nearly every year since he couldn't win it every year.  I personally would put Robertson or Olajuwon over LeBron, Shaq, or even Wilt.  Shaq and Wilt both dominated because of their size but couldn't shoot a FT to save their lives.  And while LeBron is the perfect athelete, he doesn't have the heart of any on that list.  I could list a hundred that I think have more heart than him.  Of course, that's just my opinion, after all.

Personally, I take Wade in his prime over Lebron. But I'm biased lol

I enjoy watching Lebron, but he's never been one of my truly favourite players. He's a fantastic player, talented as hell, and a brilliant orchestrator/floor general. But while he is very driven to win, he just lacks that killer instinct that I love about the best competitors. He's just not that guy who wants to bury you. He'd rather make a play to let someone else do it.

Wade in his heyday was something special.
His performance in the 2006 Finals against Dallas was as spectaculer of a performance in the Finals since Michael in the Bulls' 2 three peats.
