in my country car always Mercedes Benz and BMW, Television : SONY Bravia, phone : iPhone or Samsung Galaxy

and for console there is always one and only : "PlayStation"

Yes. 100% yes. If you're going off hardware sales, Playstation is the best selling console brand of all time. It's far better known throughout the world.

For console it was ended for mainstream gamer on SNES era, but gain sales on Wii thanks to casual (only for short time actually) , on handled it still unbeatable but starting to lose ground when smartphones  was released back then.

Sony does consistantly well selling home consoles and software.  It's a good thing Microsoft hangs around though because without them, the industry would be more stale.

because PS i continue gaming ,i was so tired of marios and pokemons and platform games ,.. i got my ps2 and waw super big different ..then i got a wii but i had it for 1 month

But I do agree that copetition is needed.

I think they already recognise that PlayStation is the stronger brand. So wouldn't it make sense for them to try and overtake them and become the top brand? It's possible, we've already seen PlayStation overtake Nintendo so while it won't be easy there is at least something to fight for.


Usually the challenger wins when there is an X factor. For the PS1 it was the CD rom, for Wii it was motion controls. Do you see an X factor when you look at Xbox One? The answer to that question should help you in your analysis.

PS4 selling much better than Xbox One have nothing with stronger brand, stronger brand did not help PS3 last gen.

Main reason why PS4 is selling much better than Xbox One is that same multiplat games works on 1080p on PS4 and 900p on Xbox One.

Actually, yes it did. PS being the strong brand that it is is what allowed Sony to sell over 80 million consoles despite their initialy screw ups. Without that brand power the PS3 would have gotten no where near 80m. Just imagine if the PS3 had been called something else and was made by a different company as their first ever games console, it would have done terribly.

If strong brand is so important, PS3 would be sell good from start (especially after 150m PS2 consoles) without billions of Sony investment to turn PS3 around, and Xbox 360 wouldn't be on pair with PS3.

360 was not better than ps3.

360 had RRoD, proprietery hard-drive, no blu-ray and they charged for online.

While ps3 had the most amazing graphics wise titles of last generation and cell cpu, and had multiples slim skids.

Ps4 is also better hardware wise, prettier, smaller, easy replaceble hard-drive and better first parties.
