If Animal Crossing U becomes a thing I am sure it could.

"(1 million GTAV in 24 hours on Steam ... no way would GTAV on Wii U sniff that even if it was a great port). " You're right, it would sell way more than that, especially on september 2013. |
Ha ha. Funny joke. I'm pretty sure you're the only person on this board that believes that would happen.

The only joke was writen by you up there.
Back on topic ... Mario Maker, Xenoblade X, Devil's Third, Fatal Frame V, and Star Fox U is a fine holiday line up.
For people still sad about Zelda try buying something else, there are plenty of other good games if you're willing to give something different a chance. The world (not even in Nintendo Land) does not revolve around Zelda.

Great games no doubt, but HW sales were pretty flat YoY. Given that Kart and Smash were still 'new' in this time frame, the sales overall could have been better, No excuses. |
Alright so we're talking sales then. SMT x FE (provided it comes out this year), Fatal Frame, Rodea, Project Treasure, Star Fox, Splatoon, Yoshi's Wolly World, and Mario maker will not do anything for sales in comparison to Smash and Kart, not even mentioning Bayo 2, Hyrule Warriors, or Captain Toad. Smash and Kart alone sold nearly 7 million year one. Bayo 2, Hyrule Warriors, and Toad add another almost 2 million. So ~9 million. SMT X FE is just Japan if it comes out at all, so that will be a couple hundred thousand at absolute most. Fatal Frame didn't even crack 100k in Japan, so that's neglible. Project Treasure is FTP, so I don't even know how to count that. Rodea's niche as all hell. So that leaves, optimistically, at least 8 million for Star Fox (a B-tier Nintendo property), Splatoon (a new IP), Mario Maker (I have no idea how this perform), and Yoshi (another B-tier Nintendo property). That doesn't look too likely to me.

That's not really a fair comparison, we know Mario Kart is at the top of Nintendo's console IP with Smash not far behind, so from that POV of course it was going to be a "down turn", Zelda or no Zelda.
You can't release a new Mario Kart and Smash every holiday.
With a price cut, it may be possible. However, without one, I don't think it'll happen.
Sure, without any mega sellers like Smash Bros and by being back to the base of last year it's bound to have a better holiday.
If you demand respect or gratitude for your volunteer work, you're doing volunteering wrong.

I'm not arguing that. The only point I'm arguing is that you said that the last two holidays were bad. 2013 can be argued as not great, but 2014? I'm not so sure. I would also agrue that even with Zelda, 2015 wouldn't win against 2014.

I never said the last holiday was bad. Last holiday, game wise was very good for the Wii U as is this year, even without Zelda.
