Forums - Nintendo - Even without Zelda U, could 2015 be the WiiU's best holiday yet?

The WiiU nintendoom wheel started spinning pretty hard when Zelda U got delayed. WiiU's next holiday started to look grim to me. But a few weeks later, I'm feeling differently:

-Without E3 yet, and even without Zelda U, the basic 1st party lineup for the rest of 2015 still looks pretty good.

- Some extraordinary and surprising Direct announcements. So far we have Fatal Frame, SMT x FE, Rodea, and Project Treasure already on lock for later this year. While not big hardware movers, every "big" release does its part

-Early signs of 3rd party support trickling back. Guitar Hero was just confirmed and there is a decent chance of BLOPS3 showing up. Lego Dimensions no doubt plays well to the WiiU's strengths too. 2015 may be the year WiiU SW overtakes Wii SW on an annual basis, and there's profound implications to that. We may even just see FIFA16 quietly get released, considering EA was 'very close' to putting Rock Band on WiiU.

-Some impressive legging of existing SW, considering limited install base

-A price cut is overdue. IMHO, had the MK8 promo remained in effect the 2014 holiday would have been better. It's not to late to catch *some* of those potential buyers

-The last two holidays have been flat and kind of bad. By now, Nintendo really knows better who they're selling the WiiU to

Don't get me wrong, there's still major deficiencies (No star wars game? Overall lack of AAA, sports, ETC) but 2015 may be the closest WiiU comes to overcoming those deficiencies since launch

I predict NX launches in 2017 - not 2016

I would say so! We have quite a bit of games coming this holiday and I really can't wait for FF69

Let the third party thing go. Otherwise, sure. I'll be enjoying Star Fox and Xenoblade and DT and Mario Maker.

There was nothing wrong with the Wii U last holiday either. Once you accept it's not a great seller and just enjoy the games, it's fine.

No... It will be worst than previous years. It's not that great of a line up. There's that severe lack of a huge titles to push sales. That's not to say that I'm not excited myself about some of the games releasing..

Current gaming platforms - Switch, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Wii U, New 3DS, PC

Ummm, where do you get the impression that SMT x FE is coming this year? Unless you're talking about Japan. And the last holiday was bad? Hyrule Warriors, Bayonetta 2, and Smash say hello.

Yes, probably. I'm sure they will announce at least 3 more games at E3 that will be released in 2015. I bet on animal crossing, paper mario and maybe metroid.

The line up is still good, but not as good as it could be without Zelda..

But yeah, I mostly agree

[3DS] Winter Playtimes [Wii U]

2015 release schedule is terrific. They don't need to show off anything new at E3. Star Fox and DT will be great.

Wii U will sell its usual 3 million or so for year.

Zelda is overrated as a system seller anyway.

Last year had Smash, it'll be hard to beat.

I'm not sure.
