SSBU/3DS: Rant on "Too Many Swordsman"! Your Thoughts?

First of all, there are a total of 51 characters in SSB that includes the Mii's Seperate forms. 53 including the 2 known DLC Characters. That said there are times though it isnt many, one hears that SSB roster has too many Swordsman. TBH i never get why this is a problem for the few that complain about this. Especially when out of the 53 characters, 11 of them are swords users. And thats actually arguable as This # includes Pit/Dark Pit that weapons arent really swords.....

As to why people say there are too many swordsman, i argue that for the most part each one is completely different from the next in terms of styles/movesets, here is a breakdown...

★Link/Toon Link:  Sword Usage= 7/10

~Uses mainly for ground atks and most aerials. Most Sword atks feel heavy (on ground especially) and uses a ton of arsenal from sub weapons. Out of all the Swordsman aside from "Robin" Link/Toon Link play a zone control style of fighting.

★Robin: Sword Usage= 6/10

~Like Link, but instead of sub weapons uses magic that feels completely unique compared to the rest of the roster. Also uses Smash like atks for Aerials (only character to do so). Plays zone control type, but with much more strategy behind him as a character.

Still Working!!!

Mii Swordsman is trash and I don't consider Pitt as swords man despite being able to break his bow into a pair of them on certain attacks. By that logic, Kirby should be considered one as well.

Yeah, I don't understand that complaint at all, although I would like to see more martial arts type characters. A lot of fighting games have a character for all the main fighting styles, and Smash really only has boxing covered. However, those types of characters make less sense outside of fighting games, so unless Smash decided to include Street Fighter/Tekken (etc) characters, I don't know where they would come from.

Too many Fire Emblem characters also

No, too few.

Give me Isaac (Golden Sun) with Sol Blade and Crono (Chrono Trigger) with Suzaku.

More like too many Pokemon and Mario characters.

Soul Calibur has too many swordsmen.

I don't consider Shulk a swordsman

Pokemon i disagree, There are 6, thats nothing. Especially when 6 were in last game.

Mario is arguable, many forget Mario is broken down into many franchises. (MK/2D/3D/Rpgs/Sports/Spin offs like Luigi Mansion+Wario Ware+Yoshi+etc).

So im incline to say Mario characters are fine, especially when there are like 5-7 other mario characters that could be added :)
