will release on Wii U, PlayStation 3, PS4, Xbox 360 and Xbox One:
The game's Starter Pack contains a copy of the game, the Lego Toy Pad (for interacting with the NFC toys), three minifigures (Batman, Gandalf from Lord of the Rings, Wyldstyle from The Lego Movie), some bricks and a Lego Batmobile vehicle. The game launches on September 29th. |
I want Friends:
Wizard of Oz figures is pretty cool and pretty damn random.
So I guess they'll probably get Harry Potter and Jurassic Park down the line?
No to Star Wars though I guess, that's going to be Disney Infinity.
Here's a leaked trailer:

Sept. 27th launch, $99.99 starter pak, Wizard of Oz, Lord of the Rings, Batman, LEGO Movie, Back to the Future, Ninjago LEGO figures at first.
I enjoy the LEGO games, but I don't think I can afford to get into another NFC toy series. For serious collectors, the costs are prohibitive.

They might get Star Wars too, the Lego Dimensions and Disney Infinity figurines are different enough that I don't think they will compete with one another.

no. it is lego equilant of skylanders..
I wonder if their will be any other big NFC, toys-to-life games. We not have Skylanders for Activision, Disney Infinity from Disney, Amiibo from Nintendo and now Lego Dimensions from Warner Bros. I assume EA and Ubisoft want to get in on the action but I can't think of any ways they could implement it.
Activision and Skylanders got the ball rolling and Disney/Nintendo/Lego have to brand recognition and huge lineup of characters to make it work but EA/Ubisoft don't so I can't really see them taking off.

I don't think Disney will allow it.
Star Wars Disney Infinity is going to be a huge thing basically on its own and will be the trump card of Disney Infinity 3 with The Force Awakens releasing this holiday.
Still there are plenty of IP for LEGO to get. Jurassic Park, Harry Potter, Ghostbusters, Simpsons (!), more DC characters, etc.
