Forums - Gaming - Games is more About Politics than having Fun

I would assume that it's because the people who spent 400$ on the console to play the exclusive don't want that investment devalued.

It somewhat happened to me when I found out that most vita games would now be available on ps4. But I don't know. I guess a similar situation would be like Microsoft making all its games available on pc. One could then say that the purpose of the xb1 therefore is simply as a receiver to play pc games on your tv (which ms is also developing a dongle for that is only 60$)

So I don't know, but, are you happy about your investment? Would you have rather waited the year or so and just played them all on PC, or on your tv with a digital receiver?

I for one wouldn't mind if bloodborne went to pc, but I doubt it will because Sony's strategy is to sell ps4s. There will be a bundle before pc is even considered.

Consoles and PC dont compete in the same terms console competes with console.  There is some overlap, but as i said, not in the same terms as PS vs XB

What are your thoughts on steam machines and MS making their library shared across PC?

Do you think this will potentially change the competitive environment?

ie; I guess a more concise question would be whether you predict fewer xb1 sales after the pc sharing or greater, or the same.

Steam Machines are extremele niche.  I see no relevance in having it.  One of the perks of having a gaming PC is that it can do a lot of other things with Windows.

I welcome cross-platform on XB+PC.  I would like to see PS follow up with at least making PS Now on PC which i believe will eventually.

And no i dont expect fewer XB sales because of it.  PC+Console has been a thing for a long while now and it doesnt really effect consoles.  You can take a game like CoD that sells over 20m on home consoles that is also available on PC.  Those 20m people chose consoles even though PC exists.

XB isnt so much competing with PC as they are with PS.  They want the home console market (which is much more mainstream than PC), not the PC market, and theyre still making money off the PC market by releasing games on it while also promoting Windows which i fully expect games in the future to start going Win10 exclusive in which case their competitor would be steam, not PS

I think the majority of people who spend a lot of time on forums have a completely warped sense of the state of the gaming community.

In reality when im talking about games to friends...all this BS about this fans, that fans, this platform, that platform, exclusives etc. almost never comes up. 90 % of the time we are talking about the actual game itself and whether its good or not or what part we enjoyed etc.

Considering that 90%, or probably more, of gamers are most likely not spending lots of time on forums, id say the state of the gaming community is pretty much the same as its almost been. And that's pretty damn healthy :)

Gaming is booming at the moment and the community as well, twitch, youtube and mobile gaming has played a large part in that.

So yeah, dont let the internet and more importantly forums mar your perspective on gaming or its community.

Me and my friend was playing Bloodborne last night and then he told me that people are making a petition for Bloodborne not to be ported to PC.......I just was in a state of "wow that's dumb".  I mean I find it absolutely pathetic that people would go out of their way just to make a petition for something not to go to PC because its a precious exclusive.......

You do realize that both the petition asking for BB to be ported to PC and the petition asking for it not to be are part of 4chan trolling and has nothing to do with what people may or may not want in reality?

Its really terrible...
My friends believe Im weird for playing mario and zelda while there like," We are manly and play GTA V and COD which makes us gamers".....
Then I tell them Im more of a gamer due to the variety I play and how I literally follow and read gaming news every day, but then they say," you arent a gamer you are just a guy who plays kiddie games, cod and gta are for gamers/adults like us."
Then I go -_-

and those are your friends? haha xD okay hmmm. ignore those type of people or ignore they saying things like that, thats much better

I'd like to think that most people can separate the politics from the game. I spend a lot of time on forums but that doesn't stop me in any way from having fun when I'm on the console. Gaming and talking about gaming don't really overlap for me.
