Yeah, its so sad when people dont get money from playing video games, and using someone elses created characters. Everyone loves nintendo and if it werent for nintendo fans, nintendo would probably not exist, but still that getting this mad at something small as a nintendo video. This is like the only single nintendo video i have ever seen angry joe do. I dont get why hes so mad at nintendo when he gets money from youtube playing xbox and ps4 games. I felt that joe always were more against nintendo then he was for it. Therefor i dont really care what people think about nintendo youtube policies. I think its there property and they can do whatever they want with it. What people complain about is their issue.
Sigh, who cares? I thought he was gonna rant about what affects us gamers, I thought he was gonna rant about amiibos or something.

Hm, I feel like all his points are valid. Pretty stupid of Nintendo to try to charge people to show content from their games. I mean they already bought the game and they system etc.... and now you want more? Sad.

Dude, Nintendo's copyright policies are 100% wrong, even illegal. They have claimed reviews, they have claimed news stories. Those are the textbook definitions of fair use and if any of these YouTubers had the money to do so, they could kick Nintendo's butt all over open court.
As for sharing "a bit" of revenue, unless you sign up to the creators program it's all the revenue. And if you do sign up, they take 40%. That's on top of the 40% YouTube takes. And ad revenue is at a low right now so what Nintendo is doing is mental. Also, Joe gave Nintendo props some time before he got a Wii U. |
Also thats not how it works, thats not how any of this works. Do you really think youtube would go against nintendo at court? not because they have more money but because how much both have done for eachother. A huge portion of youtube videos are nintendo videos. Like walkthroughs/music whatever. Nintendo is a very important partner for youtube even if its not on paper.

you're mistaken
legally speaking when someone has a copyright on an entertainment property they are fully capable of giving permission or not giving permission of its use. movies and TV shows constantly being uploaded unlawfully to Youtube are taken down swiftly, just like potentially what is happening now with Nintendo's games in videos
you can debate certain articles, but a review containing video of the actual game is not lawful (if Nintendo chooses to press the issue) because it contains material which a user much PAY to access that is being freely shared with the public. you can't do that. just like downloading music or sharing music isn't really legal online (despite people sneaking around and doing it anyway)
you are way out of grasp with the meaning and extent of the copyright control that Nintendo has over its IP's. its not a debatable matter., try sueing Warner Bros. next time you post a review of "Batman Begins" with a bunch of movie clips in there when they take down your video. news flash: you would handedly lose the case, in fact it probably wouldn't even be brought to court

He really isn't about the gamers. Its the paycheck. He'd rant about textiles if it means he gets 2 million subscribers. This is something that affects him and a few other youtubers. Its almost like the 1%ers complaining about 1%er stuff.
Yeah what Nintendo is doing is greedy and dumb, Sucks that no matter what Nintendo does, their fans will blindly defend them no matter what. If you want your console of choice to do better you can't do that.

I am afraid you are the one quite mistaken, at least in the States. Fair use covers journalism, which includes critique. Nintendo cannot copyright claim news stories or Reviews but people have been hit with claims on both to my knowledge. News stories being a particularly common thing. Intentionally attacking a critic or journalist is a very real overstepping of their bounds. If it's a review, they have no right whatsoever. Reviews and news coverage are textbook fair use. Commentary, criticism, parody, and other journalistic functions are all covered explicitly by fair use. http://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fair_use
I love Nintendo, but their stubborn attitude will be the reason they go extinct in the future, and rightfully so. If they can't learn to adapt -not even understand how a website like YT works- then they don't deserve to exist as a company.
Of course, people will defend the company they oh so worship to the ends of the earth if they have to, but I cannot possibly see why they'd defend this among other retarded things Nintendo does such as region locking.
