What if somebody only wants to experience the story of a game, and therefore will not purchase the game they would otherwise purchase because they can watch it online? Does that not hurt the developer/publisher, who created said content and did not receive money? The cutscenes took people's time and efforts just as much as the gameplay. People were paid to produce said story, cutscenes, music, etc.

I never heard or read about anyone watching a youtube or let's play vid to watch the story of video game so they wouldn't have to buy it. You're grasping at straw with that post. If you can show some articles/proof, by all means.

Don't be ridiculous. There at thousands of people who do that. I do it for games my PC is too weak to play, or practicality every game after 2005.

First question:

When the Nintendo partnership program started a lot of Youtubers expressed discomfort at what Nintendo was doing. Most who were core Nintendo's fans bit the bullet and those didn't care were free to ignore them and had no problem ignoring their product (which many people are doing to the Wii U right now). How appropo is it to explain the pride in the one who is doing the worst acting like they are doing the best. Joe was about to edit a bunch of videos he had saved on the Youtube database to be chopped up and eventually reviewed or (of for commentary) by the request of his community. He didn't have to do it. He was doing just fine before his fans got him the Wii U so he could do the job and give his opinion on the product. His review stands that he likes the Wii U was better than the Xbox One and PS4 in the amount of fun factor, but he's going to say the truth (which is why people listen to him) in that Nintendo are dicks. He should just succumb to their ad revenue sharing program because it is their product and they are extremely stingy. The law is the law. Nintendo is extremely ignorant albeit talented. Joe didn't even get to the reviewing process nor editing because Nintendo had it copyright flagged in no time at all.

Second Question:

I know those guys are Nintendo focused. If I had my way completely I would give those guys free copies though. They are two of the most vocal Youtube Gamers who would be open minded enough to work with Nintendo, but they will not tolerate Nintendos crap, which is why he's done with even trying. He'll play those games privately. Both PewDiePIe and Joe are both very avid PC gamers though and consoles are secondary for them. Their total views in a month dance circles around Nintendo.

Q1: How stupid is it to store raw footage on Youtube? WHY WOULD ANYONE DO THAT? Especially when you know of Nintendo's Youtube policies. Why not just download the video onto your computer, where you would actually do your editing. I find it extremely hard to believe that he didn't have the ability to do so after this happened or he didn't have a copy saved. And why would he have monitized the videos and made them public if he was simply storing them for editing. If he answered these questions in a video, then please explain to me, because this whole thing just makes no sense.

Q2: Why should Nintendo do anything to specifically target them? As I said, they have worked with a number of youtubers in a number of ways, I don't see why these two Youtubers should be the end all be all of anything. My point is that Nintendo has done a good deal of work with Youtubers, and it is extremely ignorant to act like they do absolutely nothing but remove videos from the site...

Neither of those are anything close to Nintendo focused. As I stated previously, Nintendo has done numerous things working with Youtubers directly from inviting them to events to having Miyamoto make guest appearances on their show to working with them on televised commercials...

And Nintendo circles a billion times around them. The views of Nintendo related content on youtube circles around their comparatively small channels as well.

They're just a youtube channel, let's not exaggerate their importance here.

Nintendo gives free review copies to plenty of youtubers. I've seen channels as small as 2k subs get early review copies.

Thats hilarious. Angry Joe has double the subscribers compared to Nintendo and Pew Die Pie's views are hilariously out of the stratusphere of Nintendo's reach. LOL Thats pretty bad, bro. Sorry to tell you but if you're going to talk down about them compared to Nintendo as far as Youtube presence that shows just how eager to defend Nintendo without caring about the truth.

Dude, Joe has a lot that he does. His video's are only one part of his overall Youtube "Angry Joe" Venture. He flies out on location to events on his dime, he shoots on location with his own cameras, he takes the footage home and he edits those as well, runs his website and other things. He also has to balance doing videos for PC, Playstation and Xbox Platforms (Nintendo was going to be there but ...like third parties have agreed, forget them).

Must be a hard living going to gaming conventions and playing video games all day.

LOL You're hilarious. Look at you trivializing things. :)

1. The video that was limited for him was a let's play/stream. It wasn't a review.

2. Somebody said that he mentioned it takes about 60 hours /video. If we include his movie reviews and top ten countdowns his total time spent on his videos on average, per year, is (60/video*127 videos/year)/6 years = 1270, which is a lot more than what I initially said, but still almost half of what other people work on average. I'm assuming he's adding gameplay to that estimate as well, which means a lot of his recreation time is merged with his work time.

A video doesn't take 60 hours to edit. So I'm assuming that all of these other things are included in the 60 hours figure he gives as well. Playing the games, flying out and filming, etc, etc. It seems to me that his website is sustained by donations and the sale of merchandise to some extent.

I'm not saying he doesn't work for what he has. I'm saying if he is doing this and not making enough money to meet his standards of living he (or any other self-employed let's players/reviewers) should consider another field of occupation, making more videos per week, month, or year, or reducing costs. You know, instead of calling others greedy, while he has monetized his entire personality. Real people at Nintendo created a portion of the content he was trying to profit off of without adding creative input (besides you know just playing the game.)

Lol, all the Nintendo stuff  on youtube together outperforms Angry Joe by a longshot. I'm a Nintendo fan and not even I am subscribed to their channel.

News flash, not a single youtube channel, that includes xbox and Sony, have as many subscribers or views as pewdiepie.

So I guess everyone but pewdiepie is pretty bad now. ;)

You don't care about the truth as there's a lot of evidence out there that Nintendo reaches out to the youtube community.

1.Actually, he knew Youtubes policies, but not Nintendo's in the beginning. The second time was the final straw...there will not be a third. He tried to satisfy his Nintendo viewership and they have to understand that he will not bend to Nintendo's will. Sorry...he's beyond that. He didn't need them and still doesn't need them and of all the console makers they are the least popular right now and still more difficult to work with. Usually when people are at the bottom of the barrel they tend to open their minds so they can reach as many people as policy. Pride is one word that is very known about Nintendo, so leave them to it.

2. I never said Youtubers should be the end all be all of anything (obviously Youtube set perameters). Not at all and neither is Joe. He said he respects the fact that they have rules about Nintendo's system that they've put in place on Youtube (which is why he's walking away). The problem is that there is a reason why the other companies are not putting sanctions on content use with their brand and thats because the word of mouth IS helping them. Nintendo does not care about what helps or hurts which is why they've had issues with many for quite a while now. Its a historical fact.....and now the Youtubers are being awakened to something third parties had to deal with since the 80's.

Well here is another YouTuber whom I also very much respect giving his opinion on the matter.
