Forums - Gaming - Not making GT6 on PS4 was Sony's biggest mistake

Calling it Sony's biggest mistake is an exaggeration.

When I think of Sony's mistakes I think of Minidisc, Betamax, complex and expensive Ps3 architecture, failure to respond to the ipod and failure to create synergy between console, pc and mobile content. The fact that GT6 was on the Ps3 is to be expected doesn't even make the list.

I think putting out GT6 after the PS4 came out was not a good move but it did use the GT5 engine hence only 3 years between 5 and 6. A true PS4 Gran Turismo would need 4-5 years. Polyphony should have just devoted their time and effort into a PS4 GT6, it could have been ready by this year. Instead it will come out mid-2016 at the very earliest considering we have not seen one screenshot of it. They need to ditch the GT4 car models, not have 80 Skyline R34 GTRs, have a more varied car line up... There is no excuse anymore.

Exactly they really need to cut down the number of duplicates and have a better overall roster of cars but I doubt it will happen.  Still will buy GT7 but I doubt I will buy it at launch since I'm pretty sure it will still have a bloated roster of cars that will have tons of duplicate and standard cars and will lack variety.

Franchise fatigue. It hits the best of them. Just look at the reasons why MLB The Show is getting 70's and 80's, even though it is being called a very good game.

"Failure to innovate".

Not every franchise can add weather and have everyone be like "OMG, innovation in the series", even though it is only because they are basically the last to do so.

Hmm fair enough, I imagine series fatigue will eventually hit Forza. Hopefully soon so it forces MS to let Turn 10 do something else. (would still be a racing game most likely since that's all they know.

There is already somewhat of a series fatige in the main series, Forza 4 should be the best selling game in the series since its the best one of the Motorsports games but it still sold over a million less then Forza 3.  Forza 5 actually sold better then I thought it would since its easily one of the worst games in the franchise when it comes to overall content.  Its not a terrible game but it just lacks a lot of contend even with all the DLC.  I'm hoping that FM6 will launch with a lot more contend so it can replace FM4 as my main sim racer.

The "Standard" cars were an absolute eyesore. Surely GT7 will be better off having 300-400 premium cars with no standard models instead of the 800+ premium/standard hybrid. Some car manufacturers have been completely passed over and neglected whilst there have been 100 R33 Skyline GTRs. I too doubt it will happen sadly. Along with the zombie AI and poor engine audio... Other than that though I do love the franchise, I just wish they would be a bit more daring. Forza isn't perfect but you can fully customize the look of your car, add bodykits, sell them online etc.

Gran Turismo is considered the biggest car simulator because of the fact that it throws everything a car fan wants into one game. Takes longer than Forza, but if they put their mind to it and put out something great its worth it.

I think making GT6 cross-plat/cross-buy would have been a very good idea.

However, I think Sony was afraid to put something on PS4 that had lower quality visuals than Forza 5. Sony needs to quit focusing on graphics, that isn't what their audience primarily cares about.

Eh... they spent several years on GT6 and it was more of the same as the last game.

I don't think people it was worth the wait.

Hence why I stated "but if they put their mind to it and put out something great its worth it."

Don't Forza-fy the game? So you don't want them to make it better?

If they made it like Forza I would seriously die inside. GT is the king of racers to me (and most people apparently as it sells amazingly)

Well you can't sell your cars online in Forza nomore either but hopefully that feature will return in FM6 and the gifting of cars needs to return also.  The online in GT also needs to be improved.  Also since I doubt that they will ever add long career mode they at least need to  add a decent free play mode the arade mode is pretty dumb since you can't earn any credits in it.
