Forums - Gaming - Not making GT6 on PS4 was Sony's biggest mistake

Atleast Sony does something new every once in a while. Should we mention the 40 qazillion mario spinoffs?

Nintnedo games are still pretty much exactly the same as they were in the N64 days. Splatoon is seriously there first original game in ages. Nintendo makes great games but sooner or later they have got to do something different.

New IPs:

N64: Smash Bros., Banjo Kazooie, Perfect Dark, 1080 Snowboarding, Cruis'n USA, Custom Robo, Sin & Punishment, etc.

GCN: Pikmin, Animal Crossing (worldwide), Geist, Eternal Darkness: Sanity's Requiem, Battalion Wars, Chibi-robo!, Baten Kaitos, Cubivore, Doshin the Giant, Odama, Luigi's Mansion, etc.

GB/GBA: Pokemon, Golden Sun, Advance Wars, WarioWare Inc., Fire Emblem (worldwide), Tales of Phantasia, etc.

Wii: The Wii series, Endless Ocean, Xenoblade Chronicles, The Last Story, Pandora's Tower, Excite Truck, FlingSmash, etc.

DS: Nintendogs, Trauma Center, Brain Age, Big Brain Academy, Professor Layton, Flash Focus, Rhythm Heaven, Personal Trainer, Style Savy, Art Academy, Fossil Fighters, The Legendary Starfy, Picross, Children of Mana, Master of Illusion, etc.

Wii U: Wonderful 101, Captain Toad, Devil's Third, Splatoon, Sing Party, etc. (so far)

3DS: Pushmo, Tomodachi Life, Steel Diver, Bravely Default, Fantasy Life, Spirit Camera, Rusty's Real Deal Baseball, etc. (so far)

Splatoon is hardly their "first original game in ages." At least do some research before making a comment like this.

Wouldn't expect too much since they already said it will still have standard cars which is the biggest gripe most people had with both GT5 and GT6.  Well at least they will fix the sound which is like one game too late since the sound overhaul should have been done and was promised for GT6.  Which is kinda typical for PD since online play was first promised for GT4 but didn't make it into the final game.

Standard cars wasn't the problem...but rather the quality of the models was shit compared to the premium cars. That was the issue. If the Standard cars are given the same generational love that the premium cars get Forza wont be able to say much.

Forza always has a more balanced lineup of cars though.  To this day Forza 4 still has the best lineup of cars in a sim racer.  GT will always have better lineup of Nissans since that is the manfacture that PD works most closely with but even with that Forza 5 was the first racing game to have a open wheel Nissan two models of the Q50 and the IDx concept car first showed up in Horizon 2.

Yeah, thats my point. Forza is quality over quantity. GT at its best is a rare breed of both quality and quantity boasting multiples of what a Forza game has in it. Forza is great and trust me Polyphony are fans, but they've studied Forza and I believe they know what to do now. I move that they cut down their cars list down to like 400 and put everything else on a DLC list.

Most of the games you mentioned are small scale and risk less projects compared to Sony IP's which they take are big scale and risky and they do every year not like Nintendo. What nintendo does most every year is the milk their IP's and charecters in new games just trying to play safe with established IP and charecters popularity to gain sales. Also they use too much cartoony graphics for a colourful graphics instead of reaslistic due to their weak harware.

EDIT: In reality Nintendo has lot of cash in bank compard to Sony but they never make use of it to build their studios or even make powerful hardware or realistic big scale games. Sony cares more about gamers and new experiences so they take more and big risks even though they  have less money and got other businesses without gaming which is not main. Nintendo main business is Gaming but they dont try to build it and give games new experiences instead.

GAMING is not about spending hours to pass/waste our time just for fun,

its a Feeling/Experience about a VIRTUAL WORLD we can never be in real, and realizing some of our dreams (also creating new ones).

So, Feel Emotions, Experience Adventure/Action, Challenge Game, Solve puzzles and Have fun.

PlayStation is about all-round "New experiences" using new IP's to provide great diversity for everyone.

Xbox is always about Online and Shooting.

Nintendo is always about Fun games and milking IP's.

How are Mario spin-offs not new? Captain Toad is not a new game because it uses an existing character?

New  gameplay trumps new characters (with old gameplay).

xenoblade, splatoon, The Wonderful 101 (they own the ip), The Last Story (they own the ip), Tomodachi Life, codename steam are not new as well? How ignorant. And their existing franchises have changed a lot since the N64 days. Just compare Super Mario 64 with Super Mario 3D World. The difference is big.

Every big gaming company makes a lot of sequels to succesful franchises.

Exactly Nintendo is nowhere near the worst offender when it comes to milking a franchise and Sony actually currently owns the most milked franchise since there are over 70 different SingStar games since 2004.

Are you trying to delude everyone or just yourself?  Since 2010 nintendo released 35 games featruing Mario.  freaking 80 in the last ten years, might want to rethink whos the worst offender if your bias allows you.

Oh, brother. This response is almost too much even for me.

First off, the statement I was responding to was "Nintendo hasn't made an original game in ages" not "Nintendo hasn't made a huge, original game in ages."

Second of all, Nintendo does make large-scale new IPs. Ever looked at Xenoblade Chronicles? What about Fire Emblem? Baten Kaitos? Perfect Dark? Eternal Darkness? Wonderful 101? But no, only Sony has the guts to take risks with new IPs. Like...Fat Princess. Or PaRappa the Rapper. Certainly can't forget MLB: The Show or SingStar. All of these games are blockbusters of the industry, holy shit.

Thirdly, I'm not sure if you're aware, but Sony milks their shit just as much as anyone else. God of War? That series has had 7 games since its conception in 2005. Ratchet & Clank has had 12 games since 2002. Gran Turismo 15 games since 1997. LittleBigPlanet 5 games since 2008. Over 70 SingStar games since 2004. InFamous has had 4 games just since 2009. In comparison, there are have been 8 Mario Kart games since 1992. Only 4 (5 if you live in Japan) Animal Crossing games since 2001. 16 Zelda games since 1986. And this isn't even considering their other franchises like F-Zero, which has only 7 games since 1990 and Metroid 12 games since 1986. But, you're right, only Nintendo has 'milked' their franchises.

Fourthly, your claim that they 'rely too much on cartoony graphics' is appalling. God forbid any company wants to do anything outside the norm and avoid the pitfall of generic mediocrity. I don't know if you know this, but games like Perfect Dark, Eternal Darkness, Pandora's Tower, Devil's Third, Baten Kaitos, Xenoblade, etc. aren't cartoony. And the Wii U is stronger than the PS3, so I'm pretty sure it can handle 'realistic graphics.' As evidenced by Bayonetta, Deus Ex, Assassin's Creed, etc.

Finally, you're right. Nintendo has never made a risk in gaming. Ever. You know the NES? That didn't completely revive the home console industry or anything. That was a safe bet on their part. How about the GameCube? Strongest console of its time yet it required optical disks. Totally safe. The DS? The first handheld device with two screens and touch controls was nothing. Or the Wii, yeah, motion controls were definitely the norm before they did that. And the Wii U, every console surely has a tablet controller.

Please.

GT7 needs motorcycles like Tourist Trophy.

It will become the definitive driving simulator.

I have no problem with GT6 on PS3, but I'm surprised Sony didn't do either a PS4 version simultaneously for launch, or release a "remastered" version of the game on PS4 this past year.

You know I was always wondering why no one ever used the dollar sign for $ony, but then I realized they have no money so it would be pointless.

In my opinion, they first should release remastered GT6 on S4 in 2015 or early 2016 and then release GT7 1 year later or two.
