Forums - Sony - Roughly half of Evolution Studios (Driveclub) faces redundancy.

65+ people left is still enough for AAA driving games.

Did the game underperform?

I'm pretty sure those arent redundancies. Drive club didnt do well and this is the result.
I hate the way SCEE is managing its studios. Those people could have easily been put working on a new wipeout. Quite honestly SCEE's management reminds me alot of EA...

Not surprising. Even if it sold decently, the development time on the game was far longer than anticipated and it's hard to imagine the game made a profit. Shame, because the game is great, and some aspects, like the weather, are the best I have seen in the genre.

I also wonder how long they will focus on Driveclub as a service. There must be something new in the pipeline as well.

Sad to hear but expected. Hopefully the remaining crew get to work on a ps4 motorstorm similar to the original. And why would Sony be expected to employ half the studio while they are doing nothing for at least the next year. Smart business move. They will hire again if they greenlight another project.

It was inevitable after the driveclub launch and then server issues. The game is now amazing but it is too late.

Didn't quite a few of Liverpool studios staff get shifted over to evolution when they shut that? It seems more like an ongoing consolidation of their UK development operations. After Drive club was late and over budget and still marred with launch issues, it's sad, but I think was pretty expected.

RIP Dad 25/11/51 - 13/12/13. You will be missed but never forgotten.

I hope they find new jobs soon :(

Hope the right ones were let go, you know.

The game sold almost 1.5 million copies and it is the ultimate graphical for PS4, I think Sony is being a little to harsh for these guys. Studio closes in October 2015 after season pass content is finished I call it. Which is depressing since it is Sony's last studio making relevant arcade racing games. Coulsn't they just fire every single damn person who worked on the last guardian a production team that hasn't produced anything since the freaking PS2 era

Please excuse my (probally) poor grammar
