In France, here the new price:

arcade: 199 €

premium: 269 €

elite: 369 €

Italy
http://www.mondoxbox.com/news/11675/xbox-360-il-calo-di-prezzo-e-ufficiale.html
* Xbox 360 Arcade - 199,99 €
* Xbox 360 Pro - 269,99 €
* Xbox 360 Elite - 369,99 €

Heise also reports 199 € / 269 € / 369 € as the new price points. After taking out VAT, this equals $257 / $347 / $476 for Germany (VAT rates differ between EU countries). Microsoft is really close to equal prices in the US and Europe. The only thing else they could have done is putting the Elite down to 349 €.

Hardcore gaming is a bubble economy blown up by Microsoft's $7 $6 billion losses.

£200 interests me far more, but I am still quite concerned about the RRoD

That's still very expensive compared to American prices.

Actually no...

Last I checked all taxes are already included in the costs in the EU, unlike american/canadian prices.

 We go though this everytime international prices are discussed. Tax is indeed included in EU console prices, but they're still more expensive than the US consoles. €300, minus 19% tax is about €250, which is about $380. The dollar is just way too weak for the tax to compensate.

Weird why is the Arcade the only one similar to U.S. cost?

€199 = $305 U.S.
$279+ 6% tax = $295 U.S.

I pay 14% tax in canada...

279 x 1.14 = 318 for arcade.

So Europe for the first time ever in the history of gaming has a price advantage.
