Nintendo making mobile games is the worst news I have heard in quite a while

No, stocks went up on the day of annoucnement, but they went down about 14% today.

Yea... So.. What is the point of this comment again? I get that their stocks went up (and now going down) and  I am not denying that they are going to make money from it cause they most likely will. I just hate the idea of it more so than anything else...

Well... The issues with their console division can be easily reversed if they would learn their lesson from the wiiU.. The wiiU failed because of dozens of reasons, not because of one of two reasons while they got the rest of them right. Thats far from it

We all know Nintendo has to develop mobile games at some point but what I wanted them to do is wait until their next gen to do so

And the N64 and Gamecube? Nintendo has NOT proven they can make a (very) successful console. Nintendo needs to get back up to 40 million plus but I am not sure they can do it. Mobile Games give them a good avenue for success

Their next console should be very straight forward (probably wont be sadly) and run on the same arch as the PS4 and One (and be roughly equal in power) for 250-300$

Just another bad thing happened, Nintendo stocks didn't stay high and went down fairly quick.

They have made mistakes on those too... And the biggest mistakes they have made is not embracing third parties and listening to them. If they listened to the third parties, paid some of them and made a console that was third party friendly like Sony/MS and stopped trying to do gimmicky things with their consoles... It will be 40+ million cause then they will have Nintendo exclusives + Third Party games.

I am not saying mobile games aren't a good avenue for success. Its just I don't like the idea of Nintendo using their resources to make games for mobile

Edit: Oh and I am pretty sure handhelds will have a market for a few more generations and not just one more

I agree with you to some but Nintendo will still struggle to sell that many consoles without also creating different style of games (more mature games)

Handhelds may have a small market the gen after this one but it will not be very significant and will not keep Nintendo a household name like the Wii, DS, and 3DS did. If Nintendo does not make a successful home console soon I am scared for their future

Yeah, it's a pretty bad day in the gaming world.

I wouldn't say Nintendo's stock falling is bad though, the mobile announcement made Nintendo's stock rise so fast it was pretty easy to tell it would fall at least some soon. It'll go up again after awhile and it's still way higher than it was.

Bets:

1. If the Wii U sells closer to 10 million LTD by 1/3/2015 I win. If it sells closer to 9.5 million LTD by 1/3/2015 OfficerRaichu15 wins (winner gets 2 weeks of avatar control)--Lost.

I seriously can not imagine any Nintendo fan being against this. It is like some of you guys want Nintendo to completely and totally fall off the rader. Handhelds are probably only going to have one more good gen and Nintendo has not proven they can make a successful home console (one really successful out of their last four)

They should drop home console and concentrate their development efforts on handheld to focus their workforce. Instead they are spreading themselves more thin, by supporting even more platforms. It would have been all great, if it was DeNA developing the games with access to Nintendos IP-portfolio (so a licensing deal), so Nintendo wouldn't use more of their own workforce (except for some help for DeNA). But as it is, it's stupid.
