We still await QOL. Or Nintendo scrapped it.

I doubt those "apps" will provide the same kind of full-fledged, quality experience that you'll get from their console/handheld games, they definitely won't make a big Zelda game like A Link Between Worlds for iOS lol

OMG yeah that would be a huge push or the amiibo platform.
If they have their dedicated gaming hardware, amiibo, QoL and mobile platform all strongly tied together giving benfits to those who own all (such as PS+ being better if you own Vita, PS3 and PS4) this could be freaking huge for them

That would be neat. An android mobile that combines both Google Store and a Nintendo Store. I can see that working, but it would depend of the price. I can see Nintendo selling a number of 50-70 million phones in seven or eight years.
If they do it right, this could bring them lots of money, but they'll have to be extremely careful not to undermine their hardware business.
Well this came out of nowhere and slapped me round the face as a wake up call. Not the first time that's happened, but it's still surprising and I'm not sure how to feel about it. Will have to wait and see more I suppose but so long as the core company isn't sacrificed for this then you will see no complaints.

The problem of that is the investors. If the games fail, they will blame the company and Nintendo will lose money. If the games are very profitable, the investors will demand more effords for the mobile area, taking resources away for dedicated consoles. It's a loose-loose situation. The only thing we can hope is that Nintendo makes money from this, but less profits that the dedicated machines, so the investors are convinced once and for all that mobile is not the best way to go. |
Perhaps, you are right. Then again Nintendo can make a shit load of money with this strategy keeping investors happy with all the dough they are making. With the increase profits could lead to more games for us.
At this point we have no idea whether this will work or not. I think it is sensible to take a deep breath, take a step back and wait to see how this pans out. Panicking and proclaiming doom is bad for our health.

Pretty sure the report said no ports, just new IPs.
Is Nintendo admitting the defeat of handhelds by 9th gen? I think not. There are still plenty of their franchises that rely on tactile buttons

Maybe you can get a free Nintendo game per every Amiibo scanned. You can get a free mobile game per Amibo, they would sell a lot of figurines and don't loose that much money.
