The low scores probably cancel out the overly high scores. And besides 7/10 is good.

Polygon should lose its Metacritic status for publishing such a review. It's one thing to be pretentious dicks, it's another thing to be unethical. And no, disclosing it does not make it ok.
I also think the green on Metacritic for games should start at 70 not 75. It starts at 70 for movies, why do games have a more strict standard?

Because game reviewers have had less strict standards for the longest time. |
While I generally agree, games rated seven usually aren't of mediocre quality. But that might just be my experience. The more important issue that needs fixing is the lack of a standard for "average" in scores. As it stands, some sites have it at 5, others at 6, and still others at 7, which makes combining them into one score a crap shoot at best. If the major sites would all say "ok, 5 is average from here on" or 6 or whatever, it would help balanced things out a good bit.
Polygon is just pathetic how can they release the review without even finishing the game? They should be banned from metacritic site for 6 months
Polygon proves time and time again what a horrible site it is. Not finishing games for their reviews, Clickbait articles, pathetic.

Wrong thread? I don't see a Kotaku review on Meta. With this strong response I'm pretty curious now which thread this was intended for.
Too bad, I was hoping this would be good. Oh well one less game for me to worry about.
I describe myself as a little dose of toxic masculinity.

Nope, its pretty much this, Polygon is the spawn of Kotaku, and thus is Kotaku.

Ah, I didn't know Polygon is associated with Kotaku. Still, seems a pretty strong response for a random bad review.

The game probably doesn't have bugs or huge faults which will detract too much from the desired experience presented. 2. It is a game that some people like a lot and other people don't like much at all. So yeah, I don't mind a score in the 70's for a game I know will be love/hate depending on the reviewers value placed on the gameplay. Anything lower, and I read for the objective faults (bugs, poor controls, etc.) Anything more and I'll consider a game in a genre which I'm not a big fan of, but might want to get into. |
I agree. The style of this game (graphics and gameplay) is hit or miss. I love it, but can see why other don't. The fact that there's no bugs that make the game unplayable is the only convincing I needed to give it a go...
... when it is released here in May
