3d world is a proper 3d mario.

Didn't EAD basically confirm a while back that they had already begun development on a new 3D Mario for Nintendo's next console?

They confirmed they're working on a new 3D Mario, but they haven't said anything about what platform it will be on.

That's right. I went back and read that article from last April. EAD Tokyo said that they were working on the next 3D Mario but wouldn't say if it would be for the Wii U, which led to speculation that it would be for Nintendo's next gen system.

If you don't think SM3DW is a proper 3D mario, there is a big chance that you will never ever see a true 3d mario, then, no!

"Hardware design isn’t about making the most powerful thing you can.
Today most hardware design is left to other companies, but when you make hardware without taking into account the needs of the eventual software developers, you end up with bloated hardware full of pointless excess. From the outset one must consider design from both a hardware and software perspective."

Which in itself is a fairly big tip off that it's not for Wii U. If it was for Wii U, they would've just said so, but if its for a future platform, then they can't talk about that and wouldn't be able to mention a platform. So there ya go.

Anyways it's for the best. The next hardware launch *must* be a good one. Iwata is lucky to have survived two bad launches back to back (3DS and Wii U). A third bad launch will pretty much be garunteed to force him to retire from his position in shame.

Probably not, which is a massive shame.

I guess I can deal with a Super Mario Sunshine Remaster... oh, but that will probably be on the 3DS/New3DS.

They should just gimme the Galaxy collection to support my decision of not getting a Wii.

Do you think Wii U will have a true 3D Mario game;in line with Mario 64 or Galaxy? I liked 3D World but its not what I was expecting for a 3D Mario.Do you think we will see SMG 3?

I think we will see SMG 3 at E3 2015

Good question. I would say you will never see a New True 3D Mario on WiiU like Mario64. I hope Nintendo will finally realize they have to do something more than their usual 2D platform games and rehashing the same formula over and over again. Please Nintendo, do it, and release a fantastic mindblowing Mario action/platform/adventure for your Next gen Home Console, make it a Launch Game, and put some specs in this hardware; and focus more on 3rd Party support.

Maybe we're not getting a proper 3D Mario game because Nintendo believes all these people saying we already have one.

3D World is better than Sunshine.

And Wii U also has NSMB + NSLU and Mario Maker.

So it's not exactly hurting for Mario platformers.

Two 3D Mario games is something that's reserved for the really high-end selling Nintendo platforms, if Wii U was selling like 50-60 million consoles, then yes it would probably get another 3D Mario ... but it's selling on pace to be the lowest Nintendo console ever.

So big difference here. Be happy Nintendo is even supporting the Wii U as is, there's really no gun to their head forcing them to do that, many other companies probably would've bailed out already.
