Forums - General Discussion - What gains your respect on VGchartz?

How to gain my respect:

1. Be a good poster. You don't have to be Pro-Sony for me to like you, just make all of your posts intelligent, and you'll get a great deal of respect from me.

2. Make me laugh. RolStoppable, twesterm, etc. Are some hilarious people to be around. I love reading their posts, and I love laughing.

3. Post cat pics. mesoteto knows this. I love cat pictures, and he never has a shortage of them.

4. Be Pro-Sony. I love Sony. No doubt about it. So loving Sony is a good way to get on my side.

5. Be Pro-Nintendo. I am not in love with Nintendo, but some of the users on this site I respect the most are Nintendo Fans. Shams, Neos, sherlock99. They all have Wii's but they get immense amounts of respect from me because they post in non-trollish ways.

6. Be Pro-XBOX 360. Give Microsoft a break. They've worked hard to get where they are, and if you are a true fan of Microsoft, then you get respect from me, because you used your head when you bought your system, you wanted actual games to play.

7. Don't troll, or hate on a company [unless it's EA]. Don't hate on PS3 cuz you have a 360. Or don't hate on Wii cause you have a PS3, or vice versa. Cause in the end, all were doing is playing video games. Nintendo, MS, or Sony do not really care whether or not YOU buy their console, cause if you don't someone else will. So stop acting like you're defending a whole company, when the company is well capable of doing that themselves.

8. Don't be something you're not. Don't bite your tongue. If you want to say something, say it. Don't not say it because it's taboo, or "isn't right", I love for people to be themselves. That is why AoA is so cool in my book.

I respect everyone on the site, because everyone on this site deserves to be treated with respect. Although, I have a feeling that's not the type of respect you're talking about.

People earn my respect mostly for what they believe in as a gamer. If I respect you as a gamer and your beliefs as a gamer, then you will have my respect.

Do I have people's respect?

Who's soriku? As far as I know the only person on this site currently that has been banned 30 times, and has been praised upon by sony fans is me.

Hmm you'd have to be laid back and funny, willing to bend the rules for a good laugh and of signed up at least last year.

Respect for those who be themselves on here, I can't stand ioi ass kissers, and 'I want to be a Mod' ass kisser's either.

If they have under 100posts i don't read what they say, unless they are the topic starter and have a question. If they don't have an avatar i don't read what they say. If they post liberal trash i tend to ignore it, like vote for obama/clinton and shit about global warming.

But i respect everyone else and read what they say, unless its gball, plus there are a couple other posters i don't read what they say, because of stuff they said in the past. But i love whenever weezy posts his avatar and sig are priceless.

That is a very elitist attitude Griffin... from now on I am not reading your posts because you have less than 2000 and your avatar isn't as cool as mine

That's rubbish. Someone with less than 100 posts is just as likely to say something constructive and informative as, say, someone with 2000 posts. In fact, more so. There haven't been 1900 posts of filler in between posts. I respect some people with low post counts. I don't respect eagle lions. (You realise that a rebuttal here would constitute you contradicting yourself.)

I respect folks with consistency between their avatar, username and signature. I respect small signatures. I respect people who pick an avatar and stick with it. RolStoppable's a good example of pretty much everything I just mentioned.

I respect everyone. But if you read my signature and catch the sarcastic joke there you'll earn even more of my respect. (That being said it's time for me to get a new signature.)

Boycotting the following:

1. Yoshi: He ate my car and spit out a toaster.

2. Igglybuff: Totally false advertisement. You can have as many as you like they don't buff nothing.

3. the Terms Hardcore/Softcore... We're talking Video Games. Not Porn.

4. The term Casual as relates to Gamers: We make them sound like outsider's that happen to play games.  If that were the case they'd own a PS3.

5. Donuts.... Beacause I drink Beer...... and the biggest fan of Donuts hates Beer.

6. Boycotts: Their so lame.

For me it's how they post, if someone posts nicely, or firmly and acts fair i respect them.

Sober arguments backed up by real facts and realistic analysis of the stats.

Conversely, spouting fanboy gibberish, confusing wishful thinking with cogent thought, and an unwillingness to check facts is what loses respect.
