I think it would be too late if we got a Direct at the end of April. I'll give 'em about a month and a week to clear our speculations.

Absolutely, options are what adapts games to their users.
Feel free to check out my stream on twitch

I wish I could go to PAX east and play the game myself..

Still only one online mode. Don't care how good it is; it's not enough for a premium product.
EDIT: Screw just the option to turn gyro off; what this game needs is Pro Controller support. Why anyone would want to play a shooter with the gamepad, I'll never know.

Well, the screen on the pad is used to jump around the stage as a squid, is it not? Wouldn't that be kinda hard to do on a standard controller?

I really hope this game is a success. That would encourage Nintendo to invest in these type of genres, even doing it in a non-Nintendo way.

That's no reason to force using the gamepad. WWHD used the gamepad to switch items, yet players could still use the pro controller instead without losing that very minor and uneeded functionality. Shouldn't be an issue here either.

Though the feature in Splatoon doesn't seem like a minor like in WW. It seems more vital and could be a deciding factor in matches between winning or losing a match, since the screen makes it easy to jump to certain areas on the map. Wouldn't that seem a bit of a handicap if you couldn't do that with a pro controller?
Though if they can configure this feature to work on a standard controller, then more controller options should definitely be offered.

They don't need to. My point was that the feature wasn't important enough to force the gamepad. In WWHD, you could switch items on the gamepad while still using the Pro Controller. There's no reason this same idea can't be used here. Let players use the Pro Controller, and for the 5% of the time you need to use the touch screen it's still there.
