Why is Game Freak giving Nintendo the finger like this? Is there some fighting between the two companies going on that we're not seeing? Doesn't look like that great a game anyway, but then their non Pokemon IPs always do. Still, Nintendo ought to just buy the fucking company before they have themselves another tragic Rare situation.

Post number 22 in that thread. What that user said matches what i looked up recently (back when this game was announced). Nintendo owns 56% of Game Freak and at least a part of Creatures, yet neither were listed there.

Surely if they owned 56% it would be in Nintendo's own reports, so why isn't it?

Yes, Owning 56% would mean Game Freak is owned by Nintendo. Which would make them a subsidiary/first party studio.

Highlights:

Lead designer seems really enthusiastic about the game

The game is being developed by a smaller team in GameFreak

And the excuse to not have a Wii U/3DS/Vita version is (from the lead developer himself):
