Post number 22 in that thread. What that user said matches what i looked up recently (back when this game was announced). Nintendo owns 56% of Game Freak and at least a part of Creatures, yet neither were listed there.

Surely if they owned 56% it would be in Nintendo's own reports, so why isn't it?

Yes, Owning 56% would mean Game Freak is owned by Nintendo. Which would make them a subsidiary/first party studio.
