Two people so far have called this an FPS. Am I missing something?

I won't comment on the single-player since it supposedly has improvements. The multiplayer, however, looks like a mid-grade FTP PC title. The maps shown are extremely lackluster. Ubisoft's Ghost Recon looked much nicer--actually, what ever happened with that game? I've heard nothing else about it.

The map editor is interesting but I'm hoping maps with a LOT more variety can be produced.

Not sure if I'll buy it, but I am definitely Interested in it. Reminds of Turok Evolution and Ninja Gaiden 3 RE... And I know Itagaki wasn't involved in those games, but still... His game reminds me of fun times!

Hopefully we'll hear more about it soon, it's been too long since E3 (same goes for Yoshi).

Umm, I never said I expected a story from multiplayer?

When you use your gun it switches to an FPS view. The game itself is a third person action game, however; traversal and melee combat are all done in third person.

Doesn't really interest me for a few different reasons. I'm not really a fan of shooters(barring borderlands, sometimes CS can be fun), so it takes a lot to get me interested in one. Mostly a unique hook, but this games 'hook' is blending melee combat with shooting. Sounds cool, but balance I'm sure will be an issue or melee will be an after thought.
As far as story goes... its a generic shooter(it looks like it will play like COD) so who really cares about the story... the multiplayer is what makes those games good. I mean, don't get me wrong... the game COULD have some amazing story that will make me want to play it, like The Last of Us, but that game still took me like 2 years after its release to play simply because shooters generally don't make it to the top of my must play list.
I touched on it before, but balance could be a huge issue in this game. Hack and slash is awesome, shooters can be awesome, blending them might not be so awesome. I kind of picture myself running at some guy who just shoots me three times and I'm dead before I can even whack him once. Lets say it takes more hits than that and you're supposed to do something like shoot at one another and then switch to melee once you close the gap... I dunno... still could feel weird. I'm kind of reminded of a game called Gunz the duel or something like that from back in the day. Took freaking forever to kill anyone and led to some boring gameplay after your first few hours.
All and all I'll be waiting a while before I consider getting this game. Its going to take a lot more info and the actual release, reviews, and maybe even a demo to get me convinced to pick this one up. I might be being a little stubborn, this game could end up being a game of the year candidate, but honestly... it looks like its going to be a turd.

Definetly yes!

Actually I'm super hyped for this. Sure Zelda And XCX, but thoseare a given they'll be good. This is something new and I actually like shooters, specially if they're original, which this game seems to be.

And I don't understand the backlash the game had. SUre it doesn't look spectacular, but neither did it look that bad. Personally I wouldn't care if the graphics turn out to be exactly what they showed at E3. The dips in framerate it had at E3, now that is a problema needing to be fixed...

It looked terrible at E3, and I don't much care for the genre anyways, so...

Look and read the OP please and thank you. :)

The graphics and textures weren't in the top five things I was referring to....

I'm getting this game day 1 XD
