If i may intervein in the pricing discussion, i think that price policies should change if Fusion becomes a reality.

In my mind, seeing as it is the same game on both consoles - even if both versions aren't the same - i think it's reasonable to expect a price difference between the handheld and home console.

Now, that doesn't mean prices should stay as they are today or even go up.
Actually, it would be best if they actually went down. And there really is a margin for that seeing as the audience for each game will be bigger than ever.

It would be great for Nintendo on the handheld front to keep parents happy with low priced games and also on the home console front to better convince gamers.

So what type of pricing are u thinking?

The try and hold consumers or even recuperate some, they need to get the prices down at least to DS levels on handhelds (29.99€) and Wii levels on home consoles (49.99) as highest price for their games.
The rise in handheld gaming is specially dangerous as it is Nintendo's best segment and the one where they have more to lose.
I'm not seeing parents buying their kids a handheld with games going for 45 to 55$/€. It's too much.

I think that with Fusion that's doable. They will save enough money on game production and marketing to cover that loss if it even occurs.

Ya I believe $29.99-49.99 is the sweet spot depending on things like budget, size of the game, selling power of the series.

This is what I'm guessing and believe it should be.  IMO its more about the HH increase in pricing.  So while I presume Nintendo would be making the game with the highest assets at 1080p (which they have been doing a few yrs now, and will expand/improve on that a bit), the scaled down 540-720p game is what will sell the most. That $29-49 price range sounds about right, with the usual $20 and under eshop indie  games as well.

But even for a 1080p version, i dont feel should be higher than $49 (again, not a big visual leap, dev budget etc) - our access to the best graphical version should end with the purchase of separate, home version HW.

As your list shows, they have enough manpower to support their Fusion strategy. Of course, there's a mix between 1st party and 2nd party, but the point still stands.
Even if they just release 10 games every year, that's more than enough.

The more important question is: how will they support it? With what kind of titles?
The market has been showing them that they need to make more than just Mario, Zelda, MK, etc. They need to learn from 3rd parties and make those type of games. And making it Nintendo's style (like Splatoon) won't be enough.

Quantity is pretty much assured. The real problem will really be diversity and what type of diversity they will bring to their consoles.

Uhh... that's less than 1 game per month.  Considering they'd want to drive sales on black friday/christmas, 2-3 of those 10 will release in Oct-Nov, so that'd be 5 months a year with zero games.

If 10 is more than enough, what would be "enough"?

I was only speaking about internal production, not published titles of 3rd parties (MH3, Bayonetta 2, Lego City, etc.)
10 games just made by Nintendo would mean 2 months without games. Now if you add published titles, the number would increase.

And if you look at the recent past, Nintendo has been having published titles aswell as part of it's catalog. So, we could actually see a game every month.
Because if you take those out and just count Nintendo's own games, then the list is even shorter.

I'm already seeing PS4 and Xb1 games at 69.99€. That's a lot! And for a console with less appeal, it feels even less inviting.

Short answer - yes. At least for Nintendo fans it would be OK.

But they'd need more diversity than that. But since they don't have to make 2 Smash Brothers, 2 Mario Karts, 2 Mario 3Ds, 2 Mario 2Ds, etc. per generation ... they could free up teams to work on new ideas/concepts too.

Exactly. Right there that's 4 different IPs they could be making, new IPs or dug-up old ones.

Monster Hunter: pissing me off since 2010.

It would be cool if the Mario Kart team made a Mario Kart (obviously lol) then instead of going on to make a sequel right away, revived F-Zero or Wave Race or made a brand new racing IP that plays completely different to Mario Kart, perhaps Nintendo's own take on Need for Speed or something.

Instead of getting 2 NSMB & 2 Mario 3D Land/World, we get one really bad ass 2D Mario that feels fresh and new again, a sequel to 3D World and Mario Galaxy 3.

Yeah to be honest I think if it goes down like that ... bring on the NX-era, bye-bye Wii U/3DS, you won't be missed.

Way too many redundant Mario games all around too .... Mario Party 3DS, Mario Party 10, Mario & Sonic Wii U, Mario & Sonic 3DS, etc.
