We're at a point that we have daily numbers for the film industry in great sites like BoxOfficeMojo, and weekly numbers for Japanese gaming sales from Famitsu and Media Create. Heck, we even have weekly listings of many European markets (while not providing exact numbers, they are invaluable nonetheless). It's sad to see the North American numbers being taken hostage like this, forcing folks to pay large sums of money to get information like that.

We're at a time where VGChartz has the opportunity to become more and more relevant in this market, and I hope that ioi sees this opportunity and takes it.

NPD can afford to be so restrictive cause they are the only ones doing this in NA. Japan has like two or three different groups tracking sales. Honestly someone else needs to get on the whole sales tracking game and basically just dedicate a site just for sales tracking. Well something like VGC but accurate.

I think ioi has access but he wont share for the same reason. If he shares then he will be a bigger target. Because everyone knows him and this site.

I just don't get how the film industry has such amazing public tracking every week and yet video games are so secretive about sales. Japan gives us great numbers so it is possible, every where else is ambiguous and we have to wait until the company making it announces a number (which happens on less than 10% of games).

I am pretty sure CBOAT is working for Microsoft.  Its should be fairly obvious at this point...
