As many user of this site know, i'm italian.

In italian, life is : "Vita"...

Just for example...

"La vita è bella" (amazing film of Benigni) is "the life is beautiful"

Back OT...

When Sony have annunced "PS Vita" in 2011, i was sure that the globally name was "PS Life"... and only by end of 2011, i uncovered that PSVita was the name in all region, Italy, USA, UK, Germany, France, Japan, ecc...

The fect is that i don't comprite the sense. :|

In Italian "PSVita" is very a cool name, and i think that it was more cool if even in the other region "Vita" was "life"... Just for example:

english: PS Life

Spanish: PS vida

France: PS vie

Germany: PS Leben (ok, maybe not this :D )

ecc...

Good question, but Vita is also Latin. Sony wanted to make a Latin name.
Anyway, PSP2 would be the best name and it would have done much better than PS Vita imo. Can you make PSP2 as a choice in the poll please?

I guess Vita sounds cool. PS Life sounds cool. And having so many different names for it would be confusing. Imagine having a bunch of people from around the world put into one room and have them talk about the Vita with its different names. It would be confusing, and a fun conversation xD

Should the Xbox One be changed to the word meaning "1" in each language, then?

"PlayStation Life" for English speaking countries sounds much worse than PlayStation Vita imo.

I don't usually research a console's name's meaning but thanks for sharing this, and I'm sure to give the PS Vita a little life by buying maybe this or next month, I suddenly had the urge to get this handheld.

Vita is a cool word, but from the beginning that I thought it sounded rather pretentious and out of place. PSP2 would have been so much better or the prototype name they had at first, I can't remember the name but it was way cooler and appropriate for a handheld.
