Forums - Gaming - Why Do People Say WiiU and Vita Are Dead? Both Are Doing Extremely Well For What They Are.

If you apply that logic, then Wonderswan and Pippin sold extremely well for what they were. No, that doesn't work.

WiiU and Vita aren't selling "extremely well".

They are doing decent relative to their earlier performance but other than that they've both been catastrophes. Being around the 10m mark after several years on the market is nowhere close to acceptable for any system, and certainly not for the successors to Wii and PSP.

The reasons you listed are results of Nintendo's and Sony's strategies and therefore aren't valid excuses for the low sales. You reap what you sow, simple as that.

extremely well? lol. just look at their first projections and look at their sales now. WiiU was projected to be at 5 million sales by end of march 2013, its 2015 now and its at 9.2m. vita is even worse, it was projected it would sell 16 million in its first year... lol.... its at 10m now

I love my Vita, but given its commercial performance means there likely will not be a successor to it tells you that Sony views it as a failure.

Your talking about something completely different here^ Yes they are failures. They couldn't come close to their predecessors/etc but im talking about people saying its Dead, as in its finished. Which isnt true for either and given that the listed reasons in the op are imo good points, they are doing actually well.

WiiU solely is a 1st party Console, can you name 1 company that could pull this off with the exact same position??? :)

They're doing pretty badly especially when compared to their counterparts (PS4, XOne, 3DS) so people say they are dead...

I would say that Sony failed themselves on the Vita.

Neither systems are achieving their potential.

Gamecube and Xbox are examples of systems that had the odds against them but prevailed to reach as big an audience as possible. Wii U/Vita are not dead but neither are they doing great given their hardware and potential. Of course given all of the failures sony/nintendo have put on them their sales are about right but that doesn't mean they're doing great, nor does it mean they fortunes can't somewhat be improved.

That's the logic of someone who is butthurt because they feel it's false to like something that is a failure.
