The Wii and Wii U are totally different systems. The Wii was mostly bought for casuals who just wanted a bowling simulator and maybe Mario Kart Wii, of course the PS3 sold more software. On the other hand, the Wii U has a more dedicated fanbase with, what i have already said, a much more consistent attach rate. But i was getting ahead of myself saying it will definitely sell more sofware. I think it will be the PS4's more games vs the Wii U's attach rate.

The Wii and Wii U are very different, but it's not like the Wii didn't have the hardcore Nintendo fans, i.e. the people who currently own the Wii U. Wii just had the Nintendo audience + casual gamers who wanted motion controls. Wii U will have a nice attach rate, but let's not forget that doesn't mean much if games are few and far between.

Most hardcore fans didn't play on the Wii due to its motions controls. It was Nintendo's gamble to get all the casuals and not focus nearly as much as maybe they did with the Gamecube, with powerful (at the time for consoles) hardware and a 'traditional' controller, and is why the Wii U isn't getting the sales it should get, think about it, if all the gamecube and n64 fans were still hardcore Nintendo fans, the Wii U wouldn't be doing the low numbers it is right now. But i agree that those games are far between, but not as far as you think they are for this year.

PS4 should match PS3 sales, the games are coming and in all likelihood as is DQ and Monster Hunter. PS4 will sale more then double.

No chance that PS4 will match PS3 sales in Japan, after 1st year have only 1.143k.

PS4 will sell more than Wii U, it will have longer life.

Still too early to judge if it going to sell as much as ps3 or not

First 52 Week Sales:
3DS 5,075,956
GBA 4,916,845
PS2 4,242,257
Wii 3,844,356
DS 3,651,082
PSP 2,220,528
GC 1,545,681
PS3 1,273,555
Wii U 1,200,339
DC 1,104,177
PS4 1,049,426
Vita 1,026,491

PS4 was selling belowvita before now it's ahead and ps4 is only 224k behind ps3

PS4 - over 100 millions let's say 120m
Xbox One - 70m
Wii U - 25m

Vita - 15m if it will not get Final Fantasy Kingdoms Heart and Monster Hunter 20m otherwise
3DS - 80m

If core Nintendo fans didn't play these games, who did?

I think a few things could lead to Wii U being more successful.
1.) Dragon Quest XI being shared between 3DS/Wii U like DQX (assuming this is a more traditional game).
2.) Pokken Tournament being a huge success.
3.) Youkai Watch for Wii U
4.) Another Monster Hunter
5.) Xenoblade being a huge success in Japan

I think it's more safe to assume PS4 will win though.

Official Tokyo Mirage Sessions #FE Thread

i have no doubt the PS4 will sell more especially due to PS having great legs after the gen ends but i dont know when it will outsell the Wii U in its lifetime.

1.) I doubt this after Dragon Quest Heroes. Square Enix should know now where this series belong to
2.) Could be true but it won't be such a huge success how you think
3.) Not going to happen since we know Level 5 is working on a PS4 project
4.) Monster Hunter belongs to handhelds Monster Hunter Tri showed us that
5.) Will definitely boost sales but it is not Final Fantasy or Dragon Quest so it won't save the Wii U in Japan

Wii U still can catch PS4, sure. We don't know. Probably Ps4 will won, but PS4 selling 10M? lol Is not even funny

Since when does a spin-off musou game developed by a different developer determine where the main series Dragon Quest goes? Dragon Quest Swords didn't imply DQIX will go to Wii.  It is obvious that the main factor of where a Dragon Quest game goes is high Japanese sales. If we use your logic, Wii U should get DQ XI because it has DQX.

Though i could say that not all hardcore Nintendo fans got those games, probably about half of those sales were.

.....

Yeah i guess i lose :P, but i do stand by my point that some hardcore Nintendo fans jumped the train, as you can see from the Wii U, and i also do think more software will be sold, Nintendo and other companies may surprise us (*cough* Yokai Watch U, Animal Corssing U, Pokken Tournment U)

What determines whether or not a gamer is hardcore? If it is based on the games they buy, then all people who bought these games are "hardcore" and "Nintendo fans" unless you are telling me that different sets of casuals contributed to the games sales and they only casually bought a hardcore game and only that game.

Other joined "the train" as well. I don't entirely disagree with your other point, but I do have to say that the Wii U is likely to have as many Nintendo fans buy it as the Wii and GC had, if we use the limited definition of "hardcore." The Nintendo decline is a slow one, it's fanbase is quite dedicated in terms of support.
