As far as quality, it's so close it's scary. All 3 companies have amazing controllers. I've spent extensive time with all three and I'm pleased. All three have flaws which I'm sure somebody else has posted. I'm going to cop out and say 3-way tie.

You are on a site where the PS and Nintendo people outnumber the Xbox people.

XBO Controller >>>> 360 controller.

The other console controllers are just whatever imo. Xbox controller for competitive FPS gaming is by far the best on console. Of course it does not compare to KBM, but for fps on consoles, by far the best.  Rumber triggers when I play NBA 2k are awesome as well.

PS4 controller is the best all in all.

Wii U > Xbox > PS 4

Wii U and Xbox are both very comfortable to hold and use. They are pretty similar and both excellent controllers. Wii U wins mostly because of its insane battery life.

I don't like PS controllers, never have. The reason I bought a 360 over PS3 was the controller. I have owned a PS1 and PS2 for years now, and I like the consoles, but still have a strong dislike for the controllers. I find it impossible to hold a dualshock 2 comfortably (the shape, analog placements...they don't make sense to me)

Dualshock 4 definately is an improvement over the older models. I find it is more comfortably shaped now. I still don't like the analog placement though. Especially the left one, it should just be swapped with the D pad in my opinion.

NES, SNES, N64, GC, Wii, WiiU, GB, GBC, GBA, DS, 3DS, Mega Drive, Game Gear, PS1, PS2, PSP, XBOX 360, Atari Lynx

Bettery life difference is so insane, that it makes this easy for Upro.
DS4 is like 8 hours and XONE around 20 right? My Upro has gone almost 80.

That said, i would pick GamePad if i could. Despite the weak battery, the weight feels right for me. I always thought i would break my DS3 during a Dark Souls game session, because it feels so frail.

That's not the controller I got with my Wii U.

NO Wii U tablet!

Only Pro controller.

So... We aren't considering the gamepad?  If that is the case I would say

x1>ps4>wii u

however, if we were considering the gamepad it would be

wii u>x1>ps4

The Pro Controller automatically wins since I don't have a PS4 or a X1..... yet!

I haven't used a Pro-Controller so I can't speak for that.

It's close though but overall I prefer the DS4 to the XBO controller. It more balanced in my hands and I really like the dpad on the DS4. But both are pretty top notch in my books.
