Forums - Gaming - XB1's big games in 2015 are all in the Holiday time?

For a while it seemed to me that XB1 has no big exclusives slated until 2nd half of 2015.  Based on this news http://www.gamrreview.com/news/92473/forza-6-release-window-confirmed/ it sounds like Forza 6, QB, and Fable Legends are all slated for Holiday 2015 along with Halo 5 and RoTR which we already knew.  So it's not just half a year with no gaemz, but looking like 9 or 10 months with no gaemz right now.

WDYT?

And yet during the holidays certain people will conveniently forget the first 10 months of the year...

Exclusive games aren't the only games that get released...

There will be a big exclusive thirst come fall but at least one of those will be delayed to Q1 2015.  No way they crowd them all and leave nothing for early next year

Their strategy worked out for them last holiday season so it's not a surprise they're going for it again. I do think that QB was at one point rumoured for a Spring release, like Titanfall was last year, but got pushed back. It might be a combination of both development problems and wanting to put all their focus on the holiday season.

Honestly the ideal situation I think would be:

August - Forza 6 Motorsport

September - Halo 5 (It worked well for Destiny and the further away from Call of Duty the better.)

October - Fable Legends

November - Quantum Break

December - Rise of the Tomb Raider

Something similar to that.

I guess they are thinking that the multiplats will carry it till then which isn't that bad of an idea

that's going to be some good holiday NPD's

Every story has to be about something i suppose

Well right now everyone is running on different strategies it seems. Sony is letting their exclusives fall where they may for the most part while the multiplats carry them, Nintendo is trying (emphasis on trying, hopefully they succeed) to have their exclusives released throughout the year to keep the baseline up and provide key boosts, and MS is doubling down on the holidays. We'll see how it goes, but I don't think this strategy will be sufficient for MS to gain real ground on Sony. This is the age of connectivity; their lack of exclusives could easily become a hot topic that hurts the Xbox image for the remainder of the year leading up to the holidays if it catches on. Either way, they won't be able to just ignore the lack. They'll get good Holiday sales, no doubt. But this strategy could cause their baseline to tumble, but it's not a sure thing either way.

So if we're saying, strictly based on exclusives, that the X1 has "no games" till the holidays , then kindly remind me and everyone else what system-selling exclusives the PS4 has between the release of Bloodborne which is next month and the holidays?

You know I was always wondering why no one ever used the dollar sign for $ony, but then I realized they have no money so it would be pointless.

Not sure why they would wanna crowd so many heavy hitters in one holiday. Granted, its great for us gamers in a way, lots of diversity but it will guarantee that some games will be left in the shadow of the bigger franchise.

Still, it's an impressive line up. It almost sounds like they are going for the "let the opposition step all over us all year until holiday where we will take over for two months" strategy.
