Next gen, Nintendo and Sony will team up to create the Nintendo Playstation, and it will sell 900 billion units.

Why the PSP?

If we remove playstation console only 4 consoles/handheld outsold PSP and we know wii and ds sold that much because of casuals and those one won't buy another consoles.

I think it's not difficult to sell more then NES which sold 60m but it's more difficult to sell more then PSP

The Wii and DS sold as high as they did due to mainstream success. The people who purchased them were also less "casual" than PSP owners. PSP owners only bought 3.7 games per console, while DS owners bought 4.9 games per console, and Wii owners bought 9.3 games games per console... Which is also about 10% away from PS2 and PS3's 10.5 games per console, and the Wii is actually higher than the PSX's 9.2 games per console.

So no matter how casual you think DS and Wii owners were, they played way more games than PSP owners, and the Wii is only slightly fewer than PS2 and PS3 owners and a touch more than PSX owners, even though all three of those PS consoles were on the market quite a bit longer than the Wii.

I describe myself as a little dose of toxic masculinity.

I think it depends on how long Nintendo is willing to keep the 3ds alive, I can see that system selling above 80 million.

I want to show everyone what a beast the PSP is.

Why don't you show PSP struggled to move software and that's why support dried up inspite of great sales? Any significant software sales it had occured early on and dwindled. Frankly, much of PSP's sales are due to piracy.

Global Software by Platform

PS3 1,119,917 (-21%) 882,736,174
X360 760,931 (-5%) 918,455,050
Wii 329,758 (-4%) 896,724,601
PSP 65,649 (-6%) 287,084,941

Now its uncertain if X1 will surpass PSP in hardware sales. But I GUARANTEE X1 will trounce PSP in software sales. That's more important than hardware sales because that's what keeps great games coming to a platform.

It certainly didn't take long for the X1 to surpass Vita in hardware and software sales.

Comparing handheld software sales to console software sales has never made sense and will continue to never make sense, because it is common for families to have multiple handhelds but share games between siblings, whereas it is far less common for the same to occur with consoles. Case in point, all conquering DS has sold less software than any of the three consoles last gen despite selling over 50% more than Wii.

This gen, you are probably right (depending on what Nintendo wants to do with the n3ds), next gen, too early to tell cause anything can happen

How can the 3DS beat it while Nintendo has already launched their new portable console? (New 3DS)

(new format of games for a new console that is backwards compatibile, like my 60GB PS3, that didn't count in PS2 sales, right?)

Persona 5 on PS3, I won't need next gen!

Handheld platforms sell less software than core consoles, but I don't think solely for the reason you've given.

PSP didn't even sell half the software DS did. Maybe due to piracy being so rampant on PSP and lack of interest from consumers in the PSP library.

At the rate 3DS is going it may sell more software than PSP as well. Regardless if it achieves 80 million units sold.

The ratio of wii and ds was inflated by casuals games every wii was bundled with Wii Sports alone sold 82 millions ,Wii u and 3ds will never had a games that sold even 1/4 of this.

If you look at best selling games on wii and ds most of them are casuals games if you look at psp best selling games they are most of them hardcore games

If

PS4 - over 100 millions let's say 120m
Xbox One - 70m
Wii U - 25m

Vita - 15m if it will not get Final Fantasy Kingdoms Heart and Monster Hunter 20m otherwise
3DS - 80m

Not a difficult prediction to make. No one's actually expecting the Xbone to reach Xbox 360 sales, 360 is the best supported MS platform ever and it barely made it past the PSP. Xbox is losing the market share it captured from PS last gen. Nintendos hardware business is dwindling, the 3DS has peaked, mobiles changed the handheld industry forever, the next Nintendo handheld will likely have trouble reaching even the 3DS sales. Same story with their home consoles. Nintendo consoles sold less each gen since the NES if the Wii is left out.

NES: ~61M
SNES: ~49M
N64: ~34M
GCN: ~22M
WiiU: ~16M?

New 3DS is still a 3DS. The number of new exclusive games announced for it so far is just 1, and that number probably won't grow beyond even 1% of the consoles library during its lifetime. The PS3 counting for PS2 sales analogy would be more accurately compared to 3DS's ability to play DS games.

I see your point but still disagree greatly, they are not pushing the NEW format of games, ok, but still there is a new format of games (only one for now) that is for a CONSOLE that is not a 3DS (how do you call that?) They plan on selling for backwards compatibility, ok. the analogy you make with 3DS playing DS games is completely different in numbers from mine, ONLY THE very FIRST model of PS3 played PS2 games, that is a single model (of a total of maybe 20?) that can be counted as a PS2 because there is phisically both PS2 CPU and GPU inside (exactly the same chips).

If a new console doesn't exist then no one needs to buy a new one to play Xenoblade remake right? (joking) The box of the game doesn't lie, it is for a NEW console. (I count 2DS as a 3DS if you are wondering if I am biased, I let the boxes decide if one is a new console or not) Sony for example when talking about ps1 titles in recent years always tells that they are "PS1-FORMAT" titles.
