Wait, people are saying Titanfall got the same kind of hate?
Wait people are saying that the game that has the most hyped ever before release back to March 2013, the game that got so many awards, a metacritics score of 85, even mentioned as the last nail on the coffin for the PS4, was even listed on a board of "what will save the Xbox One" next to Halo, has had the same treatment as the Order 1886?

This game is going to be bad. Deal with it, almost every game on the PS4 and Xbox One is bland.

They say the gameplay is good, story is good, atmosphere is good but it has a few too many QTE and length is short, which may be bad or good depending on the gamer. I've never had issue with 8 hour long games.


This 100%! Many areREALLY making it seem like the game is bad but I keep asking what they are referring too. So it just seems some people don't like QTEs which is fine and a 7hr game is too short for them. But outside of that I heard teh gameplay is good, the story is good, the graphics are phenomenal , and the setting is good. So that sounds like a good single player game imo. So I don't get the hate smh....

Got a feeling that the game is actually average length. I'm thinking in a couple days people are going to buy and play the game and come back reporting game length of about 8-10 hours. Which is pretty normal these days for most linear, cinematic single player games.

I think why people find the hatred to be unprecedented is because the game hasn't even released yet. There doesn't seem to be a consensus around game length and whether its a good game or not. Hell the one review we do have is positive.

I fixed some of that for you, and added another. You really hit the nail on the head in terms of the problems with The Order. You might be able to try really hard and find 2-3 games that fit this entire list, maybe. But you won't find many at all. Hell, I cannot think of a single one. And that's why The Order gets so much hate. It's not just "omg its so short!" it's that it's so short, it's extremely linear, its loaded with so many cut scenes that almost half the time you're "playing" you're actually just watching, an enormous part of the game is tied to QTE's, there's little to no replay value, AND it's going to launch at $60.

Another reason the flames are burning so strong is because it's a PS exclusive, and a highly hyped/anticipated one, so you have a slew of people arguing and defending the game. Which just means more replies and more discussion.

There's nothing uncanny about it. Other games like Titanfall, Evolve, hell even Ryse were subjected to the same hate. And it's not because of the Sony brand, either. Uncharted and LoU might have had a small amount of hate prior to launch but it's overwhelmingly positive. And Bloodborne can do no wrong right now. Maybe this game is just getting hate because it deserves it? A lot of people don't like the idea of a 5-6 hour game where 35-40% of it are cut scenes, and the only real replay value is replaying the game to hunt trinkets. And it's $60.

Most popular walkthrough on YT for Wolfenstein The New Order is 7 hours and 15 minutes long. Howlongtobeat has that game with a 13 hour average play time. Oh, and that game has 2 hours and 47 minutes of cutscenes. Oh the horror! 38% of Wolfenstein is cutscenes! Kill it with fire!

Another game on my list of games to play. Heard nothing but good things about Wolfenstein.

From what I have heard the average game time is around 8-12 hours depending on the gamer. Of course that won't stop people from latching onto the lowest gameplay runtime and running with it. Everyone knows Resident Evil 4 is a 2 hour long game.

 

Cant wait for some reviews tomorrow. Am expecting a 72-75 meta, which is fine. Will be pleasantly surprised if it its higher, although that won't away my purchase either way.

Yeah, I'm not huge into open world games...ANYWAYS! I honestly can't think of a game that has had more pre-release hate than the Order.

Yeah Wolfenstein got a free pass from many who are criticising the order. I payed nearly full price for it and completed it once plus a few mission replays to get the platinum. Well worth it and hopefully the order will be the same.
