Mario Kart is a racer, but if you consider it close to other racers that aren't given a cutesy look its like many other arcadey death battle racers. FIrst to get to the destination without dying or getting knocked off course wins. Twisted Metal does something similar, except it doesnt care who reaches the finish line, but rather only who survives. What about Road Rash in the 90's?

Oh damn you for giving me logical statements... Damn You!!!!!!!!!!

Street Fighter V. It doesn't matter if it's exclusive. It's the most powerful fighting game franchise.

MK2009 sold more than vanilla SFIV :P

Mortal Kombat X.

i guess street fighter v

You can survive a mach beyond a 100% damagerating. The game is purely about survival, which makes it have a higher climax rate as your friends because you never truly know when the person is down and out. It makes it more fun and gives people more chances are survival. As sakurai says he sees the game as a four player battle royale.

This arguement is getting old, but I just wanted to pop in and say that I totally agree with you. Smash is not a fighting game: It's a party brawler. It's not a "subgenre" of the fighting game genre. It's a completely separate genre that people should frankly be proud Smash defines and dominates to this day.

Actually I think characters do have good varied movesets which allows for some varied, tough matches, and while the life bar is different, it still encourages the same KO aspect of fighters. I`d still consider it a fighter. Well, not a traditional one, but still fits in the fighter category.

Yeah, that`s part of the joy of the game. If you are skilled/lucky enough, you can stay in the match far after you have sustained serious damage. It gives you a fighting chance. I`ll admit it`s not a standard fighter, but it does have fighting elements. It looks like a fighter/sumo match. The game still makes for a fun tournemant match to watch.

Street Fighter V, because it's still a much more powerful franchise than MK will ever be! Who knows though.

I'm leaning on Street Fighter V. It's the dominant fighting game, period. While it won't have any Xbone sales, it will still do impressively on the dominant console this gen while picking up some extra sales on the side with PC.

If you count reiteration sales, then this choice becomes pretty obvious, I think.

Street Fighter V. Capcom will make a couple of versions and put those on other platforms, so that SFV it's still exclusive, but Ultra Mega Super SFV releases in every cosole possible (except WiiU because Capcom doesn't like the U :( )

You know it deserves the GOTY.

5 pages in and only 1 person guess Tekken 7?

Tekken 7.

Wait, are we counting just the main game or all the extra versions they also include as well, because Capcom will keep doing that until they outsell everything. Tekken is on 2 platforms (we presume) SF5 currentl'y isn't.

Hmm, pie.

Mortal Kombat.
