Forums - Sony - PlayStation price cut VS added value from Sony.

Except that a 400€ PS4 1TB would be more expensive than a 350€ PS4 + 1TB drive. At least here in Germany. Maybe throw in a year of PS+ for the premium model.

Yep! Would be perfect. A 1TB version would sell great and likely offer higher profit margins too.

Why are people acting like the PS4 is in a desperate situation? lol

Sony know better than us. And sure PS4 is in the best position and winning easy in the Global. No need to rush and go with useless price-cut. I would just add value to the $399.

I think the best move for Sony is to "Subsidize and Advertise". The release of a 1TB model as the new standard is somethig they should do by E3. Prices for other components have dropped, and a 1TB HDD is not much more than the 500GB.

With that model in place, and the launch of PS Vue, Sony needs to start up a subsidized sales model. By bundleing PSN services with Playstation hardware Sony can keep making the same, or slightly more on PS4, PS Vita, and PSTV while getting people out the door with Zero Down. There are 200M+ cable boxes in the US, if they can match peoples cable service, and price it the same or lower while getting them a PS4, then they will do very well.

This model would also allow them to take a smartphone like approach. They can contiue to sell stand alone PS4 at $399.99 its entre life. Instead of price drops with each revsion, they can add newer tech, upgade the non gaming components, bigger HDD, more RAM for multiscreen/Multitasking. This would keep PS4 freash for the next 5 years, and allow them time to develope a PS5 that is a huge leap ovr PS4 in the games department. Finally, with that, they can continue the same model, and people on PSN contracts can upgade to PS5 for Zero down. They could even make it a $599.99 unit, and give the people an option to turn in there PS4 to get PS5 at their current rate.

Stop hate, let others live the life they were given. Everyone has their problems, and no one should have to feel ashamed for the way they were born. Be proud of who you are, encourage others to be proud of themselves. Learn, research, absorb everything around you. Nothing is meaningless, a purpose is placed on everything no matter how you perceive it. Discover how to love, and share that love with everything that you encounter. Help make existence a beautiful thing.

I've said it before, and I'll say it again. The PS4 doesn't need a price drop at all and it won't need one for a long time. I'd honestly see it as worrying if the PS4 got any price drop before 2016. People are buying it at $400, so Sony will keep selling it at $400.

A price drop right now would only be good for consumers. Sony makes decisions that are right for the company only.

It's not desperation.  The fact is they are doing good walking a pretty brisk pace.  Why not do gangbusters and run like hell and just dominate.  The us is very competitive now and this could give it a good jump and still probably make the same amout of profit.

I'm waiting to buy a ps4 when 1TB releases for $399.99
that or an Arkham Knight bundle.

They should just keep it at it's current price and have two different sku's. A 500 GB SSD and a 1TB HDD version.

Depending upon the impact SCE wants to have with their first MSRP adjustment, which will be timed with the first major hardware revision with its reduced BoM cost, it wouldn't come as a complete surprise if they managed to sell the current 500GB configuration at $299, depending upon how much they were able to cut from the BoM of the new units, but a $349/1TB SKU is more likely.

The difference in price for an OEM 1TB HDD and a 500GB one is nowhere near $50.

I wouldn't be surprised if the 500GB SKU was dropped completely rather than having two basic SKUs at a $299/349 price tiering.

I think they will cut to $349.99 in September to counteract Halo 5. Just a hunch though.
