I may sound crazy, but I think the current model of pre ordering is flawed.

First off so far this gen I only buy digitally, and a digital pre order makes even less sense than just waiting for the game to release and paying. as far as I'm concerned like most other things in the gaming industry they have got this backward.

Pre orders only make sense if they are actually cheaper than buying post release. you are basically telling a publisher that you will buy or have already bought their game before they even release it so why should you pay the same amount? makes zero sense to me.

Trust me, I  doubt anyone will think you're crazy for thinking that : ^)

The pre-order for digital does seem kinda good if it pre-downloads early for your game. The sooner you can play, the better, right?

I predict NX launches in 2017 - not 2016

The only games I really pre-order are Nintendo games tbh, like I have 7 games pre-ordered right now and the majority of them are Nintendo.

"I think it will be the HDS"-Me in regards to Nintendo's next handheld.

I rarely ever do. If I do it is generally a niche title might struggle to find otherwise and want to support that company for bringing it over.

I only pre-order when I feel the game is gonna be a blast, only pre-ordered once though with GTA V and it was worth it, for me at least.

OT: When the game is good and the DLCs are just costumes or something like that.Besides that wait for the complete edition.

Just buy what you want, for fuck's sake. If people have a problem with how you spend YOUR money, they can give you the money to spend it how they want you to.

Have some time to kill? Read my shitty games blog. http://www.pixlbit.com/blogs/586/gigantor21

When are pre-orders ok?
Never.

If the game has a pre-order bonus, I will not pre-order it.

Not even for a cool toy or book of something? : ) No bonus what so ever? Just honestly curious.

We don't get those stuff in the Philippines. And for some reason, the download codes never seem to work. Besides, I usually buy the Complete version. The one with all DLC. That validates all the pre-order DLC I never got.

Bet with Xander XT:

I can beat more games on his 3DS than he can on my PSVita in a month. Loser has to buy the winner a game on his/her handheld Guess who won? http://gamrconnect.vgchartz.com/thread.php?id=193531

Me!

There are only two situations in which I think preorders make any sense:
1. When there may be stock issues. After the whole Xenoblade thing, I was pretty scared that Last Story would suffer the same fate. I was able to get Xenoblade near launch luckily, but I didn't want to risk missing out on a cool game that had already received its fair share of good press across the rest of the world, so I pre ordered.

2. When there are physical rewards. Pre-order DLC feels like something ripped out of the game, but a physical bonus is just a neat collectors item for fans of the franchise. I do think that this should only be limited to existing franchises though. This was the case with Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword. It came with that awesome golden Wii Remote, which I needed in my life, so I pre ordered.
