Yeah objectively they should have gone all in on it. However I am very much a home console guy so I really don't care about vita or 3ds and am more pissed at Nintendo for diverting their precious first party to a handheld like Sony has avoided. I like all my exclusives on home consoles.

Maybe the reason why Vita is doom from the begining because they did not considering the "X" factor (smartphone market), they should have survived or even beat 3DS easly if the " X" does not exist, At the bgining nobody head a hunch that smartphone market able to eat and transfering mobile dedicated market to smartphones market. Thanks to first party title that only available on 3DS, Nintedo able to hold much longer then Vita.
sony portables are in the hands of 3rd parties and 3rd parties dont make games anymore for handhelds not even for the 3ds. sony choose nothing they simply have no chioce no options.

You explained very well, but i think core gamer (especially mobile dedicated gaming) is a rare market nowdays, everywhere. Even 3DS is able to stand because Nintendo is willing to put some effort on bringing some good title. and they also still have their loyal DS fans and the price that accesible more then Vita.
The PS Vita should have launched at $50 with a God of War game and a Memory card and a $50 PSN card and a special ticket with a 20% discount for a PS4. It would have been a huge success.

PSV is more causal the the PSP? we all know only anime freaks and indie lovers own a PSV :p

Actually Vita had more third party then 3DS this year. But the problem is, consumer choosing smart device over vita because of their usability for the same price.
Sony have never had the first party to ride on like Nintendo. Having a Mario or Pokemon that can move systems is huge. I think they realized the investment versus returns and said "We're backing the PS4 and home console market instead of dividing resources."
I still love the system and all the great games coming out.
I think its been poorly marketed and has a name that has confused the mass market, they think its an add on for the PSP ;)

didnt know that lol but it still changes nothing.. 3rd parties are leaving handhelds (theres no money i guess) and something needs to change. cant wait to see the rebirth of the gameboy
